JMO but I believe that Gillispie was the 2nd choice. Maybe not and it doesn't matter now. Gillispie our coach and I personally would rather have him over Barnes (imo the most overrated in the country), never has someone done so little with so much. April 6, 200719 yr ^^I'm not convinced he wasn't the #2 choice.....I know the talking heads have said it was Donovan, Barnes, and THEN Gillispie, but I doubt it would have been done so quickly if he wasn't #2. It does not matter if he was 1st,2nd,3rd 4th choice what matters is he was the best choice for the job. He is exactly what UK needed and the opposite of Tubby.

April 6, 200719 yr Well, I think this one heck of a hire for Mitch. We all know that Donovan was #1 but I think Coach Gillispie and Coach Barnes were 2 and 2A. I am happy with the hire. He has proven that he can recruit and that he can win. Plus, for another added jab...Who did Texas A&M beat in their last win this season. OH Yeah....LOUISVILLE........lol...

Do you really want all the UK haters, and there are many thousands, to say UK couldn't get "Billy D" so they settled a few notches lower for "Billy G"? It is no big deal in a world where people ar starving but I would hope UK could be a little more original. "Dickie V", "Coach K", "Billy D", etc. Surely, the great tradition at UK deserves better. Could call him Coach G, Gil, Coach Gil, or BG etc. :banana:
