Billy Donovan will be UK's New Coach

Featured Replies

Immediately after a win it was the UK fans ask where all the TBers were. And after a loss, it was all the TBers saying see, see, see.

Beating teams you should beat does not generate interest

Losing to teams you should beat (see Vandy/UGA/MSU/etc) does.

Losing to teams you previously would have beaten (see UT/Florida) does.

Beating teams you shouldn't have beaten generates interest too, but UK didn't do that this year. Not once.

If UK had beaten UNC/UCLA/Memphis/Florida, there would have been plenty of interest.

Do people honestly think anyone buys this crap?

Sadly, it appears that several do.

I have an uncle who is a mailman in Gainsville and delivers the mail to Billy. He told me that Billy asked him last week what he need to do to get his mail forwarded to Lexington...

That makes sense, because my cousin works for a moving company in Gainesville, and he said Donovan called last week to get an estimate for a 700 mile move.

Wansn't that right after your uncle delievered a large check from a Lexington bank?

Thats right, I forgot about that part... :thumb:

This is getting really old!

Remember in the 70's when the fans were hot on Hall's case and the rumor was Al McGuire was buying a house in Lexington?

With the personnel and it giving UK the best chance to win, wasn't it a good coaching move?

I understand your point and agree with you that it was Kentucky's best chance to win. But when I said "nightly basis," I meant for the last several years. The personnel issue should have been addressed by the coaching staff, but improvements weren't made.

I'm with you, I think everybody needs to stop with the rumors and just wait to see what happens. Everybody seems to have there own "source" that says a coach is coming here. If that was the case then Billy D will be the head coach and Coach Izzo, Coach K, and Rick would be on his bench.

Now that would be a good staff.:thumb:

Of course, being at UK, Coach K would be relegating to teaching the foot stomp to the players during practice.:D

I for one hope that Billy D is the next coach, but I have serious doubts that it's a done deal. One reason is that our 12U team was in Lex. this weekend and Saturday, we were at the Fayette Mall eating prior to our next game and Travis Ford and I were shopping from the same rack in All Sports, now perhaps he was in town to watch the Sweet 16, but I think it a bit ironic that he was just hanging out in Lex for no reason. Again, I have my doubts.

I heard he was in town to scout/recruit Preston Knowles from Clark County, actually heard it prior to Tubby resigning.

Pelphrey was in town as well. As was Masiello. Is he a candidate?

Nothing to look into too much. Ford is from Kentucky and had a couple guys he was looking at in Knowles and possibly Walls. Non-issue.

I don't have to have facts, only common sense. What are your facts this happen, aside from your buddy telling you it did?

I would say its pretty factual that a transaction went through the bank from UK to Billy Donovan. My buddy is in a position that would definately know. If you are so confident that my buddy is a liar, private message me and we'll make a little wager on who will be the next coach.

Ok, I think its ok to go ahead and post this. A good friend of mine works at a bank in Lexington. He says that a very large sum of money was sent to one Billy Donovan this morning. I don't want to go into to much detail because I don't want to get anyone into any type of trouble. It's of course unofficial, but if I had the opportunity to lay money on it, I would bet that Billy D is heading for a press conference when the Gators lose (or win it all).

I had heard that the large sum of money was simply the UK cafeteria closing out his account with them. It seems they had forgotten to reimburse him from the money he had put into his lunch account while on staff.:D

The great thing with technology, you don't have to worry about wiring the money popping open ont he assembly line while it is being shipped to the recrui....I mean coach. :D

I hope Billy D is the next UK coach.:thumb:
