Billy Donovan will be UK's New Coach

Featured Replies

Billy D does not have to talk to anyone from UK. He does not have to sell himself as most people do in a job interview. If UK wants him, they make an offer.

TO WHO? his agent (who probably has a law degree). Agents are usually given permission from their clients on the who? what? when? where? and how much? questions. The agent will then call Billy D and say this is what we have going on.

If it is true that Billy has already recieved money, then I agree as posted earlier; The AD from Florida already knows and honoring Billy's wishes to wait until after the tourney is over to announce it.

Remember Steve Fisher from Michigan leaving. Bo Schembeckler (sp) fired him during the tourney. "I want a Michigan guy coaching Michigan". Not every AD has that kind of intestinal fortitude.

NO WAY...NO HOW....that is too much money...that would skew all of the numbers so bad...it is not worth it.

Maybe not worth it to a Duke fan that would love to see UK continue their downward spriral that they have been going through as of late, eh? ;)

I think Patterson would commit to Kentucky because of Tubby.

I think Patterson would commit to Florida because of the lifestyle, weather, and then Donovan.

I think Patterson liked Tubby more than Donovan, but that's just my opinion.

Yep. They also approved that a nice little amount be paid up front.

I'm telling you, the money left the bank late afternoon yesterday.

You really believe this don't you. Sad.
There is nothing that links Lucas to Billy D. The brutal truth is the coach Patterson and Lucas were going to commit to was Tubby. There is a lot of good in Billy D to UK but you are way off...

I agree. I still think Patterson may come if Billy D took the job, but I would be more inclined to believe Lucas wanted to play for Tubby. People quickly forget that Tubby and John L. were/are very good friends.

Hey, if it makes you happy to criticize me for reporting what I was told, then lay it on it. You wait and see who the new coach is and I'll happily eat a crow buffett if I'm wrong. Go Cats!

If there has been contact with Billy D's agent it went like this...

UK- "Are you interested?"

Agent- "Yes"

UK- "Talk to you soon"

There are no money talks in place. There are no back door deals. I have heard form people that are as solid as it gets that this is the dream job for Billy D and he is interested at a very high level. I also know that there was likely a meeting between Pitino and Mitch with Billy D as the topic at hand.

After what I've heard over the last 48 hours I can't imagine they don't get him...

I think you're dead on with this one GT. After Donovan's answers in his press conference the other night you have to think he's interested. With the public reaction to his responses he's had a whole day to at least release a statement to reaffirm his commitment to Florida and hasn't done it. That said I don't see any reason for UK to go any further than that. I guess I would compare it to Morris and the Knicks, I'm sure each had spoken to the other (or at least by proxy) and knew what was going to happen but also knew it would be a PR nightmare if it went beyond that until the season was over. Season over, agreement reached. Hopefully that is the case here.

The man was just posting news of what he was told, I think any new is better than no news and what if this is true. I don't see him posting this for no reason.

Poet, your story is backwards...Fisher took over when the headcoach agreed to coach at Arizozna State and Bo told him to leave that a Michigan would coach Michigan and that new man was Steve Fisher. The coach who didn't get to coach Michigan was Bill Frieder. You know he felt weird after Michigan won it all.

The man was just posting news of what he was told, I think any new is better than no news and what if this is true. I don't see him posting this for no reason.

You guys are so delusional...It's really funny. Billy Donovan will not come to Kentucky..

It is okay to bookmark this quote isn't it?

IF/When Donovan comes to UK, will someone gather up all the posts that are saying people are "crazy" & such to think such a thing & put them in their own thread. That would be nice to see.
