This game was pretty painful to watch. Are these regions down this year?

 

As for the officiating, they called a fair game. There was a lot of rough/sloppy play and they called it. However, if this crew would have called the Ballard game today then a minimum of 10 guys would have fouled out. It was way more physical then this game yet they let them play.

 

It was a shame to see #21 for Elliot get hurt. He was the second best player on the floor behind #4 for Elliot.

Come on Son of Bear, you know the answer to this one. Since 1998, these regions have been down almost every year.

Well I think the final foul count was 31 fouls for Shelby Valley 16 for Elliott. Extermely onesided and when it happens like this something can't be right. Good luck to Elliott and congrats for moving on but I find that this game wasn't called completly fair

 

The reason it was lopsided is because Shelby Valley was ran to death and started getting lazy on defense and reaching. The officials were fair. The better team won.

I hate to admit it...but I love this Elliott Co. team! They started out slow, but Ethan Faulkner got them into the game. He knocked down some shots and got some defensive turnovers. I really like how he plays. He's got the look of a future coach about it. He's always talking to his teammates, telling them where to be, keeping their heads up, etc. He makes this team go. Ferguson didn't do much the first half, but they went right to him to start the second, and he hit a tough jumper and got fouled. He went on to score 20+ that half, I believe. I was there, and didn't really notice a large amount of inconsistancy or bad calls. Of course I was sitting in section 231, so I may have missed them. The fouls seemed to be good calls, the better team won this game. SV made a lot of bad turnovers as well.

 

Elliott should take note of how June Buchanan played right with Warren Central in the first half. If they are hitting their shots, they can beat Central. They just can't get rattled by the press by an athletic team.

 

Does anyone have an update about Timmy Knipp? He went down with an ankle injury in the 3rd quarter. He would be a big loss if he isn't available tomorrow.

We did the game on the air tonight and the officials called a great game! SV was step slow on the D and grabbed a bunch!

 

Knipp had a pretty good size knot on the side of his ankle after the game, the accident occurred right in front of us, came down hard on Hatfield's foot and it rolled pretty bad. I would say questionable at best for Friday's game, which will hurt the Lions.

After watching Holmes and Paducah Tilghman play above the rim all night last night this game this game was hard to watch. The refs were fine. #10 for SV had an attitude problem. It almost seemed like they thought Elliott wasn't supposed to play them hard.

ELLIOT County was flat out the better team tonight, especially after the first quarter . Shelby Valley fouled at lot at the end to throw the fouls out of whack, The ref's did not decide this game, Elliot County did, and Ferguson had a big second half. Elliot was just more athletic than Shelby Valley

-- SV did dumb things like fouling jump-shooters. Why foul someone on a three or a 17-footer? They did this repeatedly, and Ferguson made them pay.

 

-- Elliott's success at the line kept stretching the lead, and once it got too big, SV had no choice but to foul. SV did a lot of reaching on defense as well.

 

-- After the hot start for SV, it seemed like they quit attacking the basket. If you don't attack the basket, you're not going to draw fouls.

 

Bottom line: Poor decisions by SV cost them what looked like was going to be an easy win.

I agree with you but I would like to add one point. I don't think Shelby Valley was ready to play a team that way just plain out faster than they were. I was there and Elliott won fair and square and won while not playing their A game.
