Russell was on a roll before this injury, and still has plenty of talent to make it to Rupp. There are 6 other seniors on that team and you may write them off at your own peril! Of course there was the game winners against Boyd County and Elliot County that I'll never forget. The d-1 scholarship, and all the other "award stuff", I'm going to miss traveling all over the country with you just playing basketball, but I'll really miss the way you and the other guys "played together". When you were on as a team, it was a thing of beauty and was fun just watching you guys have fun.

Thanks for giving me a great 'career' - being your dad has been the best job I could ever have - getting to coach you and watch you mature into a fine young man and athlete has been icing on the cake. I loved you, kid - from the moment I laid eyes on you!

What a great post shooterx3. It truly brought tears to my eyes. I know you take a lot of heat from people on BGP, and away from BGP for things you've said and done, but surely everyone can see truly how much you love your family. From one "basketball dad" to another, the post I just read from father to son was one of the most touching tributes I've ever read anywhere. As many times as I've watched Jon play, I feel like I know him much better than I really do. He's provided me many thrills and much enjoyment in watching him play so well the game that I love so much. When I look back over my days as a "basketball dad", this fine young man and his class act family will always bring a smile. In a way, for those of who watched him perform his magic on the court, our High School career just ended as well. Good work Jon Vanhoose, Job Well Done!

Maybe the all-time best post on BGP's shooterx3 you and Mrs. shooterx3 have done a wonderful job raising a terrific young man, and he is a pretty terrific basketball player as well. He has put on some great shows throughout his career his whole sophmore year Regionals WOW:eek: Evansville is getting the best in a player and person the are the true winners. Even the Blue Blazer will be shaded a little purple. Thanks for being the person and Christian example you truly are! Jonathan is in my thoughts and prayers! I would be honored if my own little 4 year old Blue Blazer turned out like Jonathan, as a person and player.

Wow! I was looking forward to watching "VH" at the Sweet 16 this year.

I hope the rehab goes all well. I really enjoyed watching you play last year at state and during the summer with Derek Smith. You really put on a show this summer up in Northern Ky and was worth more than the admission to watch you play. I know Jonathan is a great young man and enjoyed meeting him. It seems like this kind of things always happen to the good ones! Anyway enough said you will be back on your feet sooner than you think and do us Kentuckian's proud at Evansville.

I've watched Jon transform from a Diaper Dandie that didn't want to take a charge his freshman year into truely one of the top players and team leaders to ever come out of our region. Hang in there, "Cotton Eye".:fire:

Watching Jonathan play these 4 years has been an absolute honor and an enjoyable experience. Watching him go down last night was one of the worst feelings in the world and I asked myself " How could this happen to such a great kid". I guess the Lord works in mysterious ways and sometime we may not know what he has in store but I'm sure he has his reasons. That is something that only the future can answer.

Jonathan Vanhoose is one of the best leaders I have ever seen in sports. The way he guides his team is inspiring. Whether it was scoring a bucket when needed or whether it was giving a pep talk, it didn't matter because you knew he was going to come through with both. As a Russell faithful, anytime Jonathan had the ball in his hands everything was alright, you didn't have to worry because nothing bad could happen when he had the ball. You felt comfortable and at ease when Jonathan had the ball. Now if you were a fan of the opposing team, it was the complete opposite feeling when Jonathan had the ball in his hands, I'm sure they felt very vulnerable. A feeling of doom came over them and they just prayed he would pass the ball.

That is saying alot about a player who can do that. A player who can absolutely mesmerize the crowd EVERYTIME he touched the ball. To reach that status is amazing and every player shrives to be that player and Jonathan reached that stage. He's one of the best this region as seen and I hope he has an even better career at Evansville. It's been an honor Jonathan.

Hoose had a great career but this is a terribly sad ending to it. I really enjoyed watching him play, he is a competitor, a work horse, a leader, and a terrific person. Prayers for a speedy recovery from Ashland.

This was definately tear jerking and well said. I hope that Mr. Vanhoose recovers quickly and has a greater career at Evansville.

He was truly a pleasure to watch last year at the State Tournament.
