D'antoni leaving Phoenix for UK?

Featured Replies

Minus his style and recruiting ability, would he be a good college coach? Maybe he would, because if you can bring in the talent, you can win.

I beleive UK has some talent on this year's team, just something else is missing.

Everyone keeps talking about playing his style...I would hope that if he does become the next coach, that he can adjust his style to the talent that he has...If i'm not mistaken, one of the biggest issues against Tubby, is that he plays one style and one style only. So, if this guy only does the same thing, won't the same critisism be on him, especially, if he comes in and doesn't win 25-30 in his 1st 2-3 years and doesn't make a final 4..I like the uptempo style of play myself, but, if you are void of players who are capable of running it, like this years team, then will the UK fans be okay because it's fun to watch or be just as critical because of wins/losses..

I think they play well faster, but that they don't fit his system.

D'antoni would definitely have to tweak his system to fit but doesn't that go for any new coach.

So people will be happy when we give up 85-90 a game and end up lossing early in the tourney like the Suns do every year because they can't play any D. But who cares it will be exciting to watch.

We're losing early anyway, might as well make the game exciting to watch...:thumb:

Besides, who cares if you give up 85-90 a game when you're scoring over 100...:D

I think we should see what XTiger69's friends have told him?

Honestly he would NOT be the first choice of mine to come here. I mean just look how well his teams have done when he doesn't have the best pg in the world playing. I mean they have talent on the team, but take away that pg in Nash and they dont do so well...I personally would rather have Crean, Donovan, Few, Ford, or Pelphrey before him....

Interesting to say the least and provides some "water cooler" converation. I personally don't see it happening. If so and I don't believe that it is I would hope that he would play DEFENSE, the Suns have no idea what that word means let alone how to play it. You don't play defense in college basketball and you don't win any titles............................period. "Offense" sells the tickets------"Defense" wins the games.

I thought that what you said made no sense so I looked it up. Since Villanova won the title in 1985 the national champion has scored at least 70 points except for Maryland against Indiana a few years ago.

If you take away the MVP of any team for a while they aren't going to be as good as they were w/ him. While I don't think he would take the job even if it were open I think his style could get recruits to UK. He would be a huge name and bring instant credibility. I think he would be a far better option than the last 3 names you named.

Well you can also say if you put a MVP on any team it can make a decent coach look great...I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this, because I would rather have them over him...

Maybe just maybe if he can win and NBA title which I don't think he ever will I would say its a good hire. Who wants a team that is fun to watch in the season and then loses in the playoffs every year?

Compared to what I'm going through now, I didn't mind it much at all...

Thats not the point.

I know... :D

I know... :D

I figured.:thumb: It sounds like a fun plan guys but you are saying bringing this guys will bring UK back to its glory days which is not the case at all. This team will contend for the Title in 2 years.
