This is a travesty! The award is called PLAYER OF THE YEAR, NOT CAREER OR WHAT WAS DONE LASTYEAR OR A PARTIAL SEASON! Daniel Neely took a team that is normally a middle of the pack team and turned them into a confident more than capable team. Neely has played the full YEAR even with injuries. Comes into a brand new system,coach,school, and town. I hope the coaches of the 8th that did not vote for him sleep well at night. You made a mistake! Congrats to all 8th team members!

I have not seen Neely play yet and hope to get to see him in the 8th region tournament. Just looked at the schedule and was not overly impressed with the quality of teams they played, which has a effect on getting the POY award. I do agree Mike Hester should have not received it also, so who should have received it? I think that with the schedule and the points he put up that Josh Hurd wins it hands down.

As much as I like Hester, should not have won POY...missed a lot of time with injury and since his return has not yet played to his full capabilities.

Agreed. Hurd plays against much better competition, averages around 18 a game, and is leading the state in FG%, I think he takes it over Neeley. This isn't most valuable player, which maybe Neeley deserves because both Hester and Hurd have a lot of talent around them, but POY is different, it's really just who played the best all year, which I think is Josh Hurd. IMO.

I would have thought that Owen Co would have had either the player of year OR coach of the year.

I don't agree with it but you can't take anything away from Mike he's a great player.

Lets switch gears. What about the coach of the year? I thought it would be either Jones or Duvall. Did Holland slip in there on us? 31st District good showing for this award..

Where will Hester play college ball? Is he division 1?

Neely should have been poy but lets just hope him and Hester get the chance to match up in regionals. And I just want to say congrats to all the guys who made the team this year.

 

Neely first has to get to regionals. Owen plays Gallatin in the first round of 31st disrtict.

Owen co. coach didnt win I would say because of transfers. Henry Co. has come from 3-25 2 years ago to 18-9 and 1st in their district. They didnt get any transfers during Hollands 3 years at HC either. He is a great coach and I believe that is why he won it. Jones is an excellent coach as well, couldve won it just as easily. 31st district, i believe, is a little stronger than ppl anticipated it to be.

He is not close to being a DI player. He will probably end up at Georgetown(NAIA).

It's a shame to see what size can do. I think there are a lot of players in NKY that with a few more inches would be getting DI considerations.
