If you think the Bibbins comparison is correct, why don't you think he could play for NKU, as Bibbins does? Hester definitely has the talent, his size hurts, but his quickness makes up for it. IMO.

 

Because I think Bibbins and McFarland are more liabilities than assets on that team. Neither of them are good enough to play at that level.

My experience with seeing Hester is very limited, but I don't think there is a way he could play for NKU or Georgetown.

I remember you saying the same thing about Mike Brock..even though I am a diehard Pioneers fan I could always root for all of the boys from NKY Scott Draud of Highlands was one of my alltime favorites. I also liked to watch David Dinn of Boone County..I always pulled for Ross Neltner and Justin Doellman of Ryle. For you to come on here and always say negative things about the SK players is getting old OldBird... For the record I have watched Mike play since his freshman year at SK , he has D-1 passing ability and court vision, his defense is adaquate in the open court. Mike's only disadvantage is his lack of heighth. I think Georgetown is where Mike might end up at. I also think Mike can and will contribute quality minutes there:thumb:

Is saying I haven't seen him much and admitting that I am wrong in my evaluation of talent as much as I am right really being negative? Compared to how Ross was treated on this site that is kid glove material.

 

Just for the record I am not the only one questioning Hester in this thread. I love to have NKY kids contributing at NKU, but just as much as I enjoyed the Stowers kids, the Listermans, Rhino, Rasso, and others it pains me to see guys like McFarland and Bibbins who do little more than take up spots. I would love to see Hester in the former group, but my fear he is closer to the latter.

I think Mike is better than Jordan was for SK.

Last i have heard from mike he was wanting to go to Gorgetown.. I think that he would be great theie.. The only thing that might be bad for him is his ankle.. i hope it heals well.. but about the whole height thing.. i dont think it will be a facter because he has been playing against bigger competitors for years and i think he will do fine.. I wish him the best..

He lost his composure twice and made hard fouls that were clearly frustration over his inability to do anything. I think he could probably play at both but because I actually sat behind the SK bench with a few other Highlands fans, I overheard from an SK person that he is going to be signing with Georgetown.

 

Simply based on what I saw last night, he does not have D1 talent, or should I say size and strength. However, I do think he could probably succeed at Georgetown.

Last night was was one Mike's most forgetable games i've seen in a long time. I give credit to the highlands D, but the " Dipsy Doodle" usually goes down followed by a trip to the charity stripe. The JV looked inspired with there comeback in the 4th with Hester and Elbert on the bench done for the evening. I couldn't believe the size of some of the highlands kids. I assume a lot of them play football. I think G-town would be a good fit for Mike, good program, and good coach.

I've thought that maybe he shouldn't start either. But if the coaches think he should, then he should; they definitely know more about it than those on the outside do. Either way, he definitely doesn't hurt the team as OldBird implied.

He's not going to score much but he's very strong defensively. I can see where he would start or play a lot of minutes.

I am really suprised that they dont have a situation like they didnt at UK with Saul Smith. I havent heard many people yell about him playing

How many NKU games have you watched his year? They're both key contributors. McFarland usually takes his guy completely out of the game and Bibbins runs the point well. If you haven't been to a game, maybe go to one before you give your - what appears to me to be biased and completely wrong - opinion. If you have been to a game, pay closer attention.

Enough to know that both are in over their heads. Arguing Bibbins is silly since he has played so little. At the very least, I would say the verdict is out, but I didn't like the glimpse I got of him last year at this level and I didn't see him play this year.

As far as McFarland maybe Bezold needs to know how vital McFarland is to the team since he has been used him so little the last two games, but continues to start him. How many freshman are special enough to start on any college team much less one that has had the success of NKU? McFarland is not that special.

 

McFarlands stats would prove that he does little on the offensive end of the court to barely warrant a defender. He doesn't rebound, he dosen't accumulate a lot of assts, he doesn't get any steals, and he certainly doesn't block any shots. So all we are left with on the court is that he is a lock down defender, which I am sorry, I certainly have not seen that this year or last. Honestly he is slow.

 

For every minute Bibbins and McFarland get that is one less minute that Wright, or Finnell, or Teague, or Schapelle get. Would you really rather have McFarland and Bibbins getting more and those other four getting less minutes?

 

I don't care to admit when I am wrong and I certainly try not to bash kids (especially high school kids), but as a fan of NKU basketball and someone who loves the program I think the situation smells.
