NKU would be nuts not to offer Pelle a full ride!!!! I would put him up against any player in Northern KY. He can shoot, drive, pass, and defend.

I really like Pelle, but you have to take his level of competition he has played against. I seen him play with the Shining Stars last summer. He was solid ,but not spectacular. Put Hester in a Silver Grove uniform and see what kind of numbers he puts up. Again, not knocking Pelle, he has had a great career and I wish him the best.

Do you have any clue what the word athletic means? Corey and Mike are both standout athletes. How exactly is Corey that much more advanced athleticly?

I really have enjoyed watching Mike over the years, and he is indeed a great athlete, but Corey is a step above. He rebounds, plays inside "D", and can jump out of the gym. He's as fast as Michael, passes as well, and is a better shooter and creator IMO. Again no knock on Mike, but I think Corey does the things Mike does as well as him; and does a ton more better, and like it or not size matters!!

Yes size does matter agreed. Corey in my opinion is not as quick or as fast as Mike when Mike is healthy. He may seem like a better creator when he plays against the weak competiton he does. Better shooter? That's up for grabs. And he does a ton more better? Really? Im not gonna say that Mike is a better athlete than Corey cause I think they are pretty close but you need to either watch Mike play a little more or switch to football.

Not sure how to respond to the football comment. as I have no idea what you're talking about?? I've seen Corey primarilly against pretty good competition this year, but have seen them both many times for years. I'd hope SK plays a better schedule than SG, as they have about 15-20 times the boys in their school??

 

And again IMO he is a far better and more varied shooter, and when's the last time Mike guarded a big guy like Corey has to do, due to their lack of other options. With the array of other fine players SK has along with a dominent big man; how often has Mike faced double & triple teams, and gimick defenses designed to stop him??

 

Mike's a fine point guard, and a capable shooter & creator; and I wish him well!! Again, I'm in now way trying to put down Hester, just stating my opinion that Corey is the superior all around player??

Players like Bibbins, McFarland, and in theory Hester can play vital but LIMITED roles at NKU. A player needs to ask himself if he is content with playing 5-7 minutes a game as a role player ( be it defensive stopper, press breaker, spark) knowing that every year NKU has the potential to bring in other better players that do not have limitations and your minutes may be knocked down to near nothing.

 

If you are able to handle that, then every good team needs those type of players. If not, then it is best to seek an opportunity elsewhere.

I will go on record saying that when healthy Mike Hester is one of the most athletic players in the state. His quickness is nearly unmatched, he can jump, and he has a great first step.

I guess it was the games you didnt attend. Many times this year and all of Mikes 4 years at SK teams have doubled him, denied him the ball, ran a guy or 2 at him, played a box and 1 defense on him and other things to try to limit his touches and/or production.

Hester would not be in the same role as Bibbins or McFarland. He is a better all around player than both. Plus I believe he was offered a scholarship whereas Bibbins is a walk-on, which says something about who they think is better. I agree his size may limit him some but he wouldn't simply be a role player. This discussion is really pointless though because I'd put everything I had on Mike not going to NKU.

I think I'll bow out here, as this is heading in a direction I certainly didn't intend. Mike's a great player, however in my opinion Corey's a better ALL AROUND player; a point you guys seem to consistantly be overlooking in this discussion?? IMO Pelle brings more to the table with his ability to rebound and defend inside, and you guys keep discussing quickness, etc. Mike's incredibly quick, as is Corey; and if you want to discuss overall ability, I'm in, but if you try to turn this into me bashing Mike, I'm out!! :confused:

I wasn't intending for you to feel that way, but to say Hester hasn't had double teams or defenses focused on him is wrong.
