Enough to know that both are in over their heads. Arguing Bibbins is silly since he has played so little. At the very least, I would say the verdict is out, but I didn't like the glimpse I got of him last year at this level and I didn't see him play this year.

As far as McFarland maybe Bezold needs to know how vital McFarland is to the team since he has been used him so little the last two games, but continues to start him. How many freshman are special enough to start on any college team much less one that has had the success of NKU? McFarland is not that special.

 

McFarlands stats would prove that he does little on the offensive end of the court to barely warrant a defender. He doesn't rebound, he dosen't accumulate a lot of assts, he doesn't get any steals, and he certainly doesn't block any shots. So all we are left with on the court is that he is a lock down defender, which I am sorry, I certainly have not seen that this year or last. Honestly he is slow.

 

For every minute Bibbins and McFarland get that is one less minute that Wright, or Finnell, or Teague, or Schapelle get. Would you really rather have McFarland and Bibbins getting more and those other four getting less minutes?

 

I don't care to admit when I am wrong and I certainly try not to bash kids (especially high school kids), but as a fan of NKU basketball and someone who loves the program I think the situation smells.

 

Well I completely disagree. Because I've been at nearly every NKU game this year, and I think they've done nothing except help the team. Bibbins contributions have been limited because of his injury, but when he plays he does well. McFarland does little on the offensive end, he sets a lot of picks, and swings the ball, that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, but that's not why he's in the game. He does very well on defense, whether that shows up on the stat sheet or not, it's obvious to everyone who watches the games. He's still 3rd on the team in assists and he has the least turnovers of anybody playing regularly. You're correct about him not being as good at Wright, Schappell, or Finnel. But I think that Teague has been more of a liability than McFarland has, whether he's a DI transfer or not, yo would've been better off to go with Humphrey. And those 4 can't play every mintue of the game anyway, so any minutes that are taken away from them are warrented.

But I honestly don't think that either Bibbins nor McFarland are the best NKU can put on the court, both would be nice role players to come in for a few minutes here and there. I also like the strategy of bringing your best players off the bench which could be what they are doing. Man, you really don't get it. If you followed NKU at all this year or last year you should have seen the contributions Bibbins and McFarland made. You just want to be negative and argumentative on these kids - not fair. Bibbins broke his arm in the 5th game of the year and he had started all but 1 game. DMac starts every game and guards the other teams top offensive threat. Seems lkike you know a lot more than the college coaches.

I'm pretty sure NKU had Brenden Stowards come off the bench his senior year, and again unless I'm mistaken he was there best player that year. I like having a spark off the bench, someone that is going to come in a get the team to play at another level. I guess I probably went a little far in saying the best off the bench in my previous post, but I have seen coaches do it.

This may be so, but if he didn't have the ability to play at that level, then surely he'd be exposed, the fans would be calling for the coaches head, and it'd be obvious to everyone. However, the only time I've heard anything negative about McFarland playing is in this discussion.

 

I'm an NKU fan. I go to nearly every game. I am not biased towards McFarland, I am biased towards the team. So if it seemed like McFarland shouldn't be in the line-up, I'd say so. And from where I'm sitting, it seems like he absolutely deserves to be playing.

Getting back to Mike, I would be shocked if he wound up at NKU. For anyone who believes he isnt good enough to play for the Norse you obviously either havent watched the kid play enough or know little about basketball.

I agree, he obviously has the ability to play at NKU. There's no question IMO. I think it's pretty set that he'll be at Georgetown next year, but I'd still like him to stay close to home, I'd get to see him more.

Im with you on that. :thumb: Im not sure that Georgetown is a lock like everyone is making it out to be. He's been getting interest from a number of D-2 schools all year, Georgetown is probably the front runner though. I just havent heard any talk about NKU.

It used to be a coin flip between NKU and Georgetown. Now I'd say it is Georgetown as the slight favorite followed by some other D2 schools and then NKU. They lost ground on him and will miss out on landing him.

A scholarship to Georgetown is a pretty big deal. Tuition there is something like $22,000. That's an incredible oppurtunity.

I was saying no big deal to the post I replied to. I know how much it costs to go to Georgetown and I think it is a huge deal to get a scholarship there, whether it be athletics or academics because Georgetown is a great school.
