Not sure why LSU would rehire a guy they fired for massive recruiting violations and being caught on an FBI Wiretap.....But this is also the school that hired Brian Kelly, so I guess it makes sense.

Such a weird situation. I know that it happens but for some reason, this one just seems stranger to me than some of the other cases. 

Will Wade is like the perpetual speeder that got arrested for going 100 mph through a 15 mph school zone.  We have now eliminated the school zone and raised the speed limit to 85 mph.  Guess LSU thinks what he did then should be viewed through different lenses as it was only fractionally illegal in today’s world.

Sounds about right. From the outside looking in, LSU looks kinda slimy right now. 

At the end of the day he wouldn't have been fired back then, with how college basketball is now. So with the new rules of college basketball and players getting paid, I guess they assumed there is no reason not to bring him back. When what he did would be just fine in todays college basketball. 

How about all this playing out before they terminated McMahon? LSU goes all-in when it comes to coaching drama.

Mulkey, Kiffin, and Wade. Imagine being the fourth person in the group on the golf course, I'll pass. I'm not sure there is enough oxygen in Baton Rogue for these three people to all be in the same department.

My previous slimy comment is definitely due to the overall perception of LSU athletics which you touched on here.

LSU fired him for knowingly breaking rules. What's to make them think he won't break another rule going forward.

They don't CARE if he breaks the rules.....if they win. Between 2 former football coaches, a former basketball coach, and their staffs they are on the hook for 70+ MILLION DOLLARS in owed compensation to NOT WORK THERE. That tells you all you need to know.

Probably because the rule he broke, wouldn’t be something that would get him in trouble now. So they don’t think that will be an issue, since the rules are different.

I will say this, while this is a weird situation. If other schools were going to give him a second chance, why shouldn’t LSU.

We seen it with other coaches like Bruce Pearl broke rules at Tennessee. Auburn gave him a second chance an he made Auburn a great basketball team and delivered a final four. Rick Pitino broke rules at UL, Iona and then St. John’s was willing to give him another chance. 
 

So while it is weird to see. If other schools are willing to give a good coach a second chance. Then why shouldn’t the school that he broke rules at, not be able to? Especially after a good amount of years has passed.

Every employer has rules that guide the work place and ethical guidelines to follow. If he's demonstrated in the past that he doesn't care about rules, what make us think he'll care now?

It doesn't matter if the rule he broke is now allowed, he willingly chose to break known rules.
