Every employer has rules that guide the work place and ethical guidelines to follow. If he's demonstrated in the past that he doesn't care about rules, what make us think he'll care now?

It doesn't matter if the rule he broke is now allowed, he willingly chose to break known rules.

My question is what rules are there even anymore in college basketball? Besides truly illegal criminal activity, what rules are there now to even be broken? Also keep in mind a lot of his “bosses” at LSU who let him go are now gone.

Also as I mentioned in the post above this. If other schools are going to be willing to give a coach a second chance. Why shouldn’t the school that originally let him go be willing to do the same and be the ones who benefit from it, rather than someone else? Auburn benefited from being the one to give Bruce Pearl a second chance. Iona and now St. John’s has given Pitino a second chance. Those schools that gave Pearl and Pitino a second chance have benefited from it. Why shouldn’t the school that initially let a coach go, benefit from then getting him back after a decent amount of years away?

LSU would probably say those were NCAA rules not ours.  Tons of programs around the country were breaking the same "rules" set forth by the NCAA.  Now the NCAA has changed the rules and the ones he broke that most good programs were breaking are have been thrown out. Complicated I guess.

He was fired because somewhere in his contract it said that violating NCAA rules was a reason for dismissal. It doesn't matter if that rule has since been rescinded. He broke a rule and violated his contract as it was at the time.

Nearly every company (with any morals) has a No Rehire Policy for all employees terminated for integrity issues. I'm still not saying he doesn't deserve another chance, just I'm blown away that LSU is going back to him.

My post was meant to be dripping in sarcasm.  I think it's safe to say that LSU values winning more than morals/character.
