Just received the same email.

⚾️ Just got a text from my mother, a fan since the 1950s and lives 3+ hours away. She's thrilled about opening day and watches every game she can.

Did Joey Votto have something to do with that clock? I heard bits and pieces of a conversation on the radio and I thought that is what they said.

I think so, I think Joey donated it but like you I only heard bits and pieces.

Just heard the back story on telecast, about the new old clock and that is awesome. Joey Votto still showing his class and love for Cincinnati.

They said he did all of it. From start to finish, it was his idea. There is also audio that plays from it (not sure what).  They said he got approval from the organization, the city, fully funded it and it's upkeep AND used a Cincinnati based company to create it.

Really cool.

From WCPO 9

Ahead of his Reds Hall of Fame induction, fan favorite Brandon Phillips is signing a ceremonial one-day contract to officially retire as a Red on April 25.

"The connection he built with this city was real and retiring him as a Red is our chance to honor that unforgettable relationship," Reds President Phil Castellini said in a release.

I like it as PR or whatever it is, but I don't get the one day contract retire as a _________. Why do people bother with that?

Impressive at this point, could this team be for real?
