Surprised they did it, that check they have to cut in the next two months is gonna sting.

They apparently made a deal to spread it out over several years.

  • I cannot believe all of you BGPers have not mentioned the favorite for every coaching job in Kentucky...... CHUCK SMITH  IYKYK

  • I gotta go to work
    I gotta go to work

I don't advocate for coaches to be fired, BUT its time for my 2 teams UK and UC to move on.

  • People keep saying Stein, but that is potentially career suicide if he really wants to be a HC.

That would be very generous of Stoops.

Kentucky with the big brain, waiting until their preferred options are no longer on the board. SMORT.

Stoops has other business interest in Kentucky. By doing that, if he did, he maintains a lot of goodwill with the fans and potential customers.

Someone posted this list on Facebook...pretty comprehensive list.

1. Dan Mullen (UNLV HC)

2. Rhett Lashlee (SMU HC)

3. Chris Klieman (Kansas St HC)

4. Bob Chesney (James Madison HC)

5. Jason Candle (Toledo HC)

6. Spencer Danielson (Boise St HC)

7. Will Stien (Oregon OC)

8. Sean Lewis (San Diego St HC)

9. Brent Brennan (Arizona HC)

10. Manny Diaz (Duke HC)

11. Dave Doeren (NC St HC)

12. Corey Heatherman (Miami DC)

13. Tyson Helton (WKU HC)

14. Gerad Parker (Troy HC)

15. Ryan Grubb (Bama OC)

16. Andy Kotelnicki (Penn St OC)

17. Mike Shanahan (Indiana OC)

18. Mack Leftwich (Texas Tech OC)

19. Brian Hartline (Ohio St OC)

20. Kirby Moore (Missouri OC)

It is being reported just now on WKYT that about two hours ago according to Dave Baker the 37 million owed Stoops in 60 days has been he believes negotiated to now be paid out of 5 or possibly 6 years.

Stein, Lashlee, Helton, Shanahan, Leftwich, and Hartline are the guys I like off the list. I’m not sure how BBN would handle Briles. He is a different type of guy.

I’m kind of surprised that Stoops was fired and not. His contract was the only thing I saw keeping him there. I guess it will be easier paying him over time the way that it’s been shared.

Will Stein would be a good one!

I hope they hire Will Stein.

1. Hartline (National Champion who is a known recruiter of the same pipeline Kentucky has had success at. Brother played at UK and is on staff)

2. Will Stein (Kentucky guy who grew up a UK fan with deep ties to the school)

My personal preference is Hartline for the reasons I gave but I’m fine with either. I don’t think they will get past Stein when they reach out.

So is this official...? I go to ESPN and it still says "Expected" to fire Stoops?

Who could actually do well at Kentucky?
