Not a thing!!!!!:D Everything seems to be peachy king in Ft Thomas. At least that's what i getting from reading this thread.

I got an idea on how highlands can get better............................How about just keep doing what it is that they have been doing under Dale Mueller for all the years that he has been there.

Just a little suggestion

Ouch....this is a painful posting to look at!

On Offense?

On Defense?

On offense, Dowling comes in with a little experience at center, Ryan Ball is making the switch to guard, Luke Stein is moving to Tackle I think, Hempfling returns at tackle, and there are a lot of talented big sophomores who could fill in that last guard position. Also, Hurt is going to play TE, Jurgens still plays there too as far as I know, and there are another couple of underclassmen who are good at that spot too.

As for defense, Jurgens is the only experianced lineman that I can think of right now, but likewise, there are some very big boys coming up that can fill in the other line positions. Otherwise, we are pretty much set everywhere else.

I like the way you think. Dale does a great job getting the guys motivated and using the best techniques to get the job done. As far as I'm concerned, the man really knows what he's doing.

The Birds will be extremely tough next season. The unselfish decision of a couple of the big men to switch to the O line is huge. They are big, strong and fast. The O line will be a force to be sure.

There is no substitute to doing what makes the program better.

It doesn't matter what it is that you know as a coach, it matters what your kids can do. I remember when I was in High School (mid-late 90's) Mueller had two great running backs in Frisk and Lickert, so what does he do, he runs the football and wins a state title in '96. In '98 he had the great Lorenzen/Smith combo. So what does he do, he throws the ball and wins a state title. And I could keep going on and on but the point of the matter is this, Coach Mueller is what I like to call a "chamelon" coach. The look might change, but the guts of the team (fundamentals and technique on both sides of the ball) never change and always get better. Highlands is so good because it begins in the youth program teaching the same "guts" of football

and always getting better at it. This is a kudos to the entire community in Ft. Thomas. They're good because they care early on. That's just one man's opinion!

On O-line Ries will probably have 1st shot at the other guard position. I think one change that we may see next season is Dale will go back to playing more kids two ways. Also I think 23 will have the biggest impact of all. Spring ball. Right around the corner. Man time is flyin by

What about at DB? we loose both?

DB scares me...but it has for years! Bathiany is back, with 2 years experience. He needs to step up and be the leader back there. Simons could be a great "shut down" corner. Cecil will need to see time at DB. Jake Turner looked very good late in the year at the JV level. Clint Crawford could also replace some of the speed lost by Spencer Head...IF HEALTHY, Austin Collinsworth has instincts that can't be taught. Rarely fooled, speed, long arms, andgetting size. Hope he is healing and gets ready to contribute next year. Alex Horner, O Head, Matt Reed, all could see action. It's open back there...work hard, earn a spot!!

What about d-line?? Who steps up there? Rosenhagen, Funaro, Ries, who else ??

Is Sparky even thinking about QB? Probably not. If Cecil is the choice, and apparently he is, then full steam ahead with him. Groom Guidugli to lead the 'Birds to the 18th state title! Sparky Draper needs to concentrate on WR. His lack of PT behind the center should have the "clue phone" ringing loudly! Although I STILL believe that Draper @ QB and Cecil at WR/HB is a more potent combination! Sparky needs to get comfy exploding on routes and catch/tuck/running. He could develop into a great possession reciever!

Gotta win 17 before you can get to 18. :walk:

I thought it seemed weird that a Highlands fan wouldn't know how many titles they had. :thumb:
