THANK YOU ! 

1. Ones who hold up a concession stand line asking how much does something cost, asking do you have something not on the menu, etc. The lines can be long at these, you have time to read the menu waiting.

2. The amount of people with tumblers or stanley cups coming into a stadium. Also seems to me that a lot of people who hold these seem to stand on fence lines near the line of scrimmage and get louder as the game goes on. 

3. (For big games only- and especially at small stadiums) The person who thinks they can get there early and hold a whole row of seats for the group they are with.

4. The language you hear in the stands. I know people are passionate, but you're not in the 700 level of Veterans Stadium.

5. The ex-player who sits in the stands every Friday night, often criticizes the program, and somehow has become a much better player than what he actually was or what people remember. 

Fans that yell about penalties but have zero clue what they’re talking about. Thinking Friday rules are the same as Saturday and Sunday. 
 

Fans that berate the other team for a perceived cheap shot but say nothing when their team reciprocates.

concession stand fans who take their sweet time when 20 people are behind them. 
 

Fans that openly talk bad about a kid their own team, in the stands within an ear shot of his parents.

Fans that think they’re getting homered no matter where their team plays on the road.

It surprises me this is allowed. I remember telling my wife she can't bring hers in. Just to get inside an see it's not an issue.

Usually unknowingly by the talkers. Never seen blatant disrespect.

Have thought about this alot lately... I had two bosses, Larry French & Roger Gruneisen. Both won state titles. My favorite part about both of them... when things were toughest, they still made HS football a great experience. They were over the top taking care of the people on their team when things were hard. 

I also think that is part of why their teams played their best football at the end of the season. They refused to go in the tank and did all they could to keep everyone around them positive and moving forward. 

It takes alot of energy, discipline & unselfishness to do that. 

1982 was tough, but we did finish with 2 wins and that helped everyone between the ears. 

Surprisingly, I have GREAT memories from 1982. Coach French is a big reason that is the case. 

After that season, the Principal called me in to his office and asked me what was wrong with Mercer Football. I told him the problem and was very clear that the problem was NOT Coach French. 

In 1983, Mercer hired a great DC... Chuck Smith. 

Great life lesson... things were rock bottom when we got on that bus and went to Berea. Had no idea we were right on the edge of the best football Mercer County would ever play.

Yeah, it was annoying when I worked concessions and someone would ask if we had pheasant under glass.  Although the MOST annoying thing that ever happened in the course of that brief career was spilling the pot of hot dog water down the front of me.  In the immortal words of Maxwell Smart - “Missed it by that much”.

Just one man’s opinions. 

1.  To make a long story longer, my school's colors are orange, black and white, but traditionally, Raceland wore orange and white.  When I was in junior high school, the varsity had orange jerseys and white jerseys, but that year, they also had black.  The kicker, they only were going to wear the black jerseys in the playoffs.  Now, this was the 80s and not everyone got in the playoffs.  Imagine that.  That tradition carried on though my graduation from high school.  Man, those black jerseys meant something.  You had to make it to the playoffs to get to wear them.  Big deal.  

Fast forward and everyone started wearing black uniforms.  To say it ticked me off, is an understatement.  "I dare them to wear black".  I have a problem with it, as you see. 

2.  I ride the fence on this one.  Was it a good, "back in my day", something that I wish was still the case?  Or, is it a narcissistic, "look at me" kind of "back in my day".  It's like porn, I can't define it, but I know it when I "hear" it.  

3.  I'm on the fence about that one too.  Generally, I agree with you.  But, like you, I'm old and I no longer travel to away games.  And, I travel for work and sometimes am two or three time zones away.  I would like to be able to watch and support my team when I can't make the trip. 

4.  Right there with you.  I would still pay in gold and silver if they let me.  But, cash is king and always the right size and color.  

5.  That's a whole topic in, and of, itself.  But, to play on the topic, "back in my day" a player only transferred for a great reason.  Now, things have changed.  Just like college football, things are not the same anymore.  But, since we are on the topic, many times people in a particular area know the "whole story" and normally know if a player should be, or shouldn't be, eligible.  From a distance, everyone should be eligible.
