I would expect a battle going down to the last possession.

For the first time this season, Trinity’s defense will square off against a legitimate pass-first opponent. It’s the kind of matchup that could bring out the very best in the Rocks’ secondary and edge rushers, who have been grinding through summer workouts for this very moment. Both teams are known for their physicality and stinginess when it comes to surrendering passes over the middle or on out routes. This one has all the makings of a defensive gem, and the unit that shakes off mistakes the quickest will likely walk away with the win. Don’t overlook special teams either — Trinity’s kicking game could play a pivotal role in the outcome.

On offense, sophomore running back Taylor is making his presence felt. He’s proving each week that he deserves more touches, and his blazing speed paired with JB’s raw power creates a dangerous backfield tandem. Taylor even showed his willingness to lower the pads and run over defenders in the FD game, hinting at the versatility he brings. Word is, Trinity may have yet another piece to add to the backfield rotation for this matchup, giving the Rocks even more options on the ground.

If there’s one area that still needs to click, it’s the deep passing game. Timing between quarterback and receivers hasn’t been as sharp as it could be, but that will come with experience and repetition. Against a Moeller team still stinging from a heartbreaking loss, Trinity will need just enough vertical success to keep the defense honest and open up the run.

The Prediction

When it’s all said and done, this game could come down to who executes late. Trinity’s defense looks poised to meet the challenge, and if the kicking game delivers, the Rocks may have just enough to edge Moeller.

This game has potential to one of the national games of the week. State Goliath vs. State Goliath. Games like these are how some Trinity fans measure the season historically beyond the quest for a state title. Some of the great all time Trinity teams have run this brutal gauntlet and carved out their places in history amongst the Shamrock greats. 
 

There have been murmurs about the talent of this team stacking up with some of the most loaded Trinity teams of the Beatty-Era, and they have the recognition from colleges to back that up. Don’t mistake their youth for inexperience, many of these young men have played enough varsity snaps to be considered veterans and started in State Title games as freshman. Coach Cobb has proven he can bring Trinity to the top of the state of Kentucky, but can he bring Trinity the unprecedented national recognition and prominence it had under Coach Beatty?

On paper the talent is there, and will be for the next few years. Trinity has set itself up to seek out and receive the respect our great Commonwealth deserves. I think Friday night they go out and take it! Give me the Rocks!!!

My recent research shows Mount St Joseph,  a DIII program, only has 1800 seats on home side only! Can someone confirm?

My records indicate Moeller has 6 wins: 1997, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2022. 

Trinity has 4 wins: 2011, 2017, 2019, 2020.

From what I've seen just through a quick google search, plus what I've been told by Trinity folks, the stadium does appear to have just 1800 seats. 

Moeller, to my knowledge, has never had a home field. Last time the Rocks traveled up there, the Crusaders were playing in Norwood Shea Stadium which just has a home side but pretty good size. 5128, per Ohio Stadiums.com.

The best home field Moeller had was when there was a football field (Galbreath Field) at the College Football Hall of Fame, which was first built in Mason OH right next to Kings Island about 10 miles north of Moeller in the late 70's. Moeller used that field as their home stadium for about 20 years, 1980-2001. That field held about 7,000. But the Hall of Fame closed that location in the mid 90's and I think the stadium began to deteriorate. 

After that Moeller went to a stadium in Lockland OH, about 6 miles from Moeller, that seats about 4,000. I am not sure why they left that stadium. They played at Princeton's stadium also in recent years, which is formerly a huge rival if you go back 40 years. That stadium holds 4,500. Again, I don't know the why's for the moves from those fields and then to Mt. St. Joe. 

Moeller recently had a deal in the works for a new stadium as part of a development in Blue Ash OH only 5 miles or so from Moeller - but that deal was turned down by the city when residents near the site complained about having a stadium close to their homes. 

Also, I believe there is a baseball stadium recently built on land donated by an alumni not far from the school. I am not sure why no football field is being built there. My guess is it is another zoning issue that prevents stadium lights.
