Right, and people talk about other sports being dominated by a small group of the same teams. 

Also, when you see results like this it is tough to be overly positive about a one class championship when the usual suspects are large schools. 

Anybody else surprised by the number of ejections this week?

Baseball has become an elitist sport. Those schools who have players who participate in high end travel ball, from larger metro areas are going to be hard for smaller, less well heeled schools to beat. Travel ball has killed local, community based baseball which used to allow teams from smaller areas to compete. Access to good, travel programs requires location, access and money. Soccer is very similar. The popularity of basketball in the state will occasionally allow smaller, more rural schools to assemble a competitive team every now and then if they get a once in a generation type talent. And the district/regional format for sports, regularly keeps really good teams out of the big dance while allowing less competitive teams in.

Not to mention that it’s easier for a small school (e.g. Lyon County) to have a special year in a sport with five playing at once as opposed to eleven.

At least 4 maybe 5 and a couple of restrictions.

What is a restriction? Are the ejections do to different styles of umpiring, like we see with football playoffs? 5 is a lot.

Does the KHSAA list those ejections and restrictions and that is a lot?

Linked is the agenda from the last Board of Control meeting. If you scroll down to 6.3.2.2 you'll see Disqualification Report and Comparison. There are two charts: one by sport, one by school. Specific student names are not mentioned. (Keep in mind, this was before the state tournament so my guess is it is not up-to-date).

That same information should theoretically be available on the KHSAA website. However, the current link gives the information for 2023-24, but not for 2024-25.

This is just short of an ejection, and is really a warning. The umpire "restricts" the coach to the dugout. Typically this only happens to the head coach, who is supposed to be the only person who speaks to the umpire. Most umpires will use this as a first punishment instead of ejecting. Assistant coaches sometimes get restricted, but often, since they aren't supposed to say anything to the umpire, they will get ejected with no warning.

One of the restrictions was to a head coach by rule because his assistant coach got tossed. 

Championship game times for both softball and baseball on Saturday have been revised due to forecasted weather conditions and the now-strong likelihood of significant impact on Saturday evening.

The Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Softball State Championship game, presented by UK HealthCare, will now begin at 12 p.m. (ET), and the Clark’s Pump-N-Shop State Baseball Championship game, presented by UK HealthCare, will now begin at 1 p.m. (ET).

There are no changes to Friday’s schedule at this time; however, all involved should be prepared for adjustments due to weather.
