Agree! Highlands freshman team is playing crazy good football!! 

The Highlands 1979 Freshman team (the boys who were seniors on the 1982 Varsity team) won every one of their games by shutout.  Did not give up a single point all season.  Felt obliged to throw in some ancient history.

They are definitely up there. Two freshman teams from other schools over the last 5 years or so that I think were pretty good that would have had a chance at it. Would be the current Senior class of Ryle when they were freshman, and I believe the Beechwood freshman class back with Clay Hayden was a freshman. I could be wrong but I don’t think that freshman team lost a game if I remember correctly.

When Jared Lorenzen and Derek Smith played freshman at Highlands that was rather impressive. They had some really good players in that group. Was the referee in one of their first games. Lorenzen dropped to his left hash at the 40 , threw one, and I heard the whistle blow and saw my HL signal TD. After the XP I asked him where the receiver caught the ball ......right sideline at the 5!! When I got home I told my wife I just saw a few things (I could post a lot more) that I never witnessed at that level. Told her they should win state championships for the next three years.... almost did.

A friend of mine was Jared's football coach in pee wee when Lorenzen was maybe 6th grade. He said you have to come to one of our games and check out my QB. It was worth the trip to the game watching him at that age.

Covington Catholic beat Cooper 28-0 tonight. Go Colonels! 

Highlands with a 42-12 Win over Campbell Co. QB Bryce Armstrong only played 1st quarter due to Quarter restrictions. It was 14-0 when he left the game. Carson Skirvin(Son of Dayton Great Jason) & 8th grader Amil Wimzie took over the Offense and rolled off another 4 TD's.

The Defense is playing incredible right now. Nick Stojkovic was on another level last night. All around great Team Win. On to Conner next week.

This was my freshman team. I think we had 16 guys on the team. Lorenzen played safety and was a serious life danger to the kids playing against us. 
 

We lost in the freshman championship against Campbell County. Lorenzen and a few other key players were injured in the game.

This has nothing to do with Steve Stanton but I think the next 3-4 years are going to be a lot different then what Cooper has been use to.
