At this juncture who really cares how old a kid is.  This has gone on for years and is no different now.  Ages had zero to do with the game result last night, period end of story.

  • Dixie 14 Ryle 7   Great game, very physical battle.

Good for Dixie freshmen.  That's an unreal amount of penalties for a how short freshmen games are.

Birds were up 40-0 at Half. QB Bryce Armstrong starts off the game on the 1st play from scrimmage for 70 plus yards to Pay dirt and the rest was History.

Next up for Highlands is Cooper at Home. Highlands locked up #1 seed tonight and will host the Winner between CCH/Dixie Winner next week on Wed Oct 29th

Go Birds!

Funny story, my sister volunteered last minute to work the Conner band boosters concessions stand. Given the struggles of this year’s varsity team, she called me excited after the game to tell me Conner must have a good class coming up because the freshman beat Highlands by almost 50.

I laughed and said, that’s not possible you must have read the score backwards. She swore she didn’t and said she heard them announcing Cougar TDs! After I told her again that I didn’t believe it, she told me she’d text her friend to prove she was right. She called me back 15 mins later and said, “I guess I really wasn’t paying attention to the game.”?

I would love to see the Championship game; any chance it will be live-streamed?

Same!

It will be interesting to see what Highlands does with Bryce Armstrong in the freshman championship. They have been limiting his freshman play and then playing him at QB in the JV games.

I believe the limit is 6 quarters per week. When does the 6 quarters start? If it runs from Monday to Monday, then Armstrong will be limited to 2 quarters in the freshman game, unless Highlands chooses to play him 4 quarters freshman and only 2 quarters JV.

This will not be an issue.  He will be playing QB in the frosh game for as many quarters are needed to secure the W.

The limit is 8 quarters.    Believe it starts on Friday

You are correct on both. I think 8 quarters a week is too much.

I'm with you.  I think 4 should be the limit, unless a game you played 4 quarters in goes into overtime.  I also hate the idea of kids bouncing around levels of football.

Develop your players.  If you are a freshmen playing up with JV, then have that kid play JV.  Not part JV and full time freshman, or vice versa.  Develop your younger guys.  Give them reps.  Quit taking away opportunities from other players because you want to win a freshmen championship.  That's just dumb and doesn't matter whatsoever in the grand scheme of program building.
