Starting QB Brycen Schatzman broke his arm in the Highlands game.

Back up QB Kyle Forton has now just played his 3rd game ever at the position and is a coming along nicely. Has great footwork and mechanics. Solid arm. Working with him just to slow down. On the quick game, he rushes the throw and doesn't have full control of the ball. But he is an outstanding player and a better young man. Schatzman was back for the Beechwood game, with a cast, and did rep at back up QB. We have it a shot, wasn't sure with the bulky cast how he'd handle handoffs but he did well. He also got some reps at LB. But we have a very good RB duo in Carter Skyrm and Tre Drake. Skyrm had been out injured until the Ryle game. But he has a little over 400 yards rushing on 56 carries the last 3 games while Drake had around 200 yards on 20 carries over that same 3 game span.

Solid. Sounds like they got something good going on. Love to hear it!

At this juncture who really cares how old a kid is.  This has gone on for years and is no different now.  Ages had zero to do with the game result last night, period end of story.

  • Dixie 14 Ryle 7   Great game, very physical battle.

But our biggest improvement as the season has gone one is our defense. Take out the Highlands game, and they are just on a different level than all the freshman teams this year, we have outscored our opponents 132-34. And the last 3 games combined we have given up less than 150 total yards and only 1 TD to Ryle. Kamarea Anderson leads us with 9 interceptions and Caivon Brown has over 50 tackles with 17 of them TFL.

9 INTs in 4 or 5 Games? Impressive!

Well 6 games, but he has 6 INT's the last 3 games!

Impressive. What was the Dixie/Highlands score and any chance they meet again this season?

48-8. It wasn't pretty. If we contained Bryce he found a receiver. If we had good coverage Bryce broke containment and ran free. Coach Abner has a fantastic football team. And I believe the only way for a Dixie v Highlands matchup in the finals is Dixie would have to win out. Tall challenge as they still play  Cooper who is 4-1 and CovCath who is also 4-1.

Also didn't help we lost our QB to a broken arm, a starting WR/CB to a broken foot in the 2nd quarter. Our starting RB was already out and our RB2 was lost to a concussion in the first quarter.

We're talking INT's or TD's I'm confused?

Another complete game by the Birds tonight in Ft Thomas. 8th grader Amil Wimzie is all business with 2 Receiving TD’s. The youngster is just different. Bryce Armstrong with another great Night at the Office as well. The Birds Defense played lights out led by Nick Stojkovic with several tackles for loss.

Next up for the Birds is Beechwood next Thursday in Ft Mitchell.

I remember when Wimzie was a dazling left handed QB. Catching passes from Armstrong has to be fulfilling. Wimzie is gifted. Armstrong what a name for a QB. And quite fitting.

Kamarea Anderson on Defense has 9 INT's, 6 in the last 3 games.

I believe at least one or maybe both TD receptions for Wimzie were thrown by 8th Grader Jax Moeves. Kid can sling it a little!

That sounds like a Honey Badger to me!

Okay...what they got going on isn't fair.

Dixie does have a solid Freshmen class of football players.  They play the game hard and take coaching well.  Turkeyfoot's 8th graders are more talented IMO, but they are not as coacheable and very undisciplined.  Dixie has dudes in the pipeline, that's for sure.

Hoping the Freshmen can keep winning.

I will say that Highlands Freshmen team is really, really good.

I will always take those 8th graders on my team. They need a good group of freshman in front of them.

Steer the ship and keep this thing on track.

You have to stack some good classes.

Dixie has a good group of kids in the 2028 and 2027 classes, they are giving their all for this 2026 class.

They need a new captain to steer the ship to get it actually on track.

1. Highlands 5-0

2. CovCath 4-1

2. Cooper 4-1

4. Dixie 4-2

5. Campbell Co 3-3

6. Beechwood 2-3

7. Ryle 1-3

8. Simon Kenton 1-4

9. Conner 1-3

I believe this is correct.
