This has nothing to do with Steve Stanton but I think the next 3-4 years are going to be a lot different then what Cooper has been use to.

If you take away the last few years, Cooper will be going back to what they’ve always been.. probably worse. I’ve seen both the freshman & JV teams this year and it’s going to be tough sledding to say the least. Sullivan leaving for St Henry certainly doesn’t help. Wonder if we’re nearing the end of the Borchers era? He has to see the writing on the wall.

  • I am Coach Chard, and I will take the responsibility for that, however I can assure you my special teams coach got lit up because of that.

At this juncture who really cares how old a kid is.  This has gone on for years and is no different now.  Ages had zero to do with the game result last night, period end of story.

  • Dixie 14 Ryle 7   Great game, very physical battle.

Could this be a rematch in 2 weeks for 3rd place?

No idea but there was some commentary with it that Dixie has a path to the championship game.  Anyone?

They have to win out. They play CovCath next week which will decide who plays Highlands in the championship game.

People seem to forget that Cooper has had success even before this last 3 year ran. Cooper made the state title game in 2012. Cooper then made the state semifinals in 2014. Then moved up to 6A in 2015 and was in the regional championship game, where they got stopped on a two point conversion with 40 seconds left that would have won the game.

So in there 17 years of existence, not counting this year. They been in a state title game 3 times, state semifinals 4 times and won 3 of them, regional championship game 5 times and won 4 of them. With a good chance all those numbers go up one in this 18th year. So I would say for only being around 18 years, that is pretty darn impressive overall as a program and not traditionally a bad program like one of the comments above seemed to suggest. Were there some down years in between? Absolutely, as that is expected usually with newer programs. However, besides for the traditional powers Highlands, Covcath, Beechwood, and NCC. I believe they have had more overall success in the playoffs in 18 years of existence than the  rest of NKY teams has in last 25 to 30 years.

Both Cooper and Ryle may take a step back next year with what they lose, and the schedule they have next year, but Cooper has shown they can build it back up again. As Cooper has had successful runs even before this last couple year run.

As for the freshman team this year. Haven’t they only lost two games? With the loss that brought these comments up coming against a CovCath team, that just beat Trinity. So I don’t see that as a bad loss, as much as CovCath and Highlands freshman are just that head and shoulders above teams this year. So I do believe Cooper will be able to to build it back up starting with this freshman class, even if they maybe take some lumps next year.

After watching the CovCath freshmen team last night, beating them will be a very tall task.

They've got to get through tonight first.  I haven't seen either play, but looking at scores, it should be a good one. Dixie's defense has been lights out lately, and their offense has been putting up points with a backup qb in place.

Who won the Cooper/Dixie game?

21-13 Dixie.

21-7 at the half. Defensive struggle in the 2nd half. Cooper scored their final TD with around 30 seconds left in the game. Kamarea Anderson from Dixie got his 12th interception on the year. We "Dixie" came out a little banged up, but next man up!

Highlands 47 Conner 0

Birds were up 40-0 at Half. QB Bryce Armstrong starts off the game on the 1st play from scrimmage for 70 plus yards to Pay dirt and the rest was History.

Next up for Highlands is Cooper at Home. Highlands locked up #1 seed tonight and will host the Winner between CCH/Dixie Winner next week on Wed Oct 29th

Go Birds!
