Mike McCarthy Out as Cowboys Head Coach

Featured Replies

It is just breaking that Mike McCarthy is out as the Dallas Cowboys head coach. The sticking point is that they could not agree on the length of the contract.

I've seen some float Prime's name.

1) I love him in college and hope he remains.

2) He has coached big boy college football for two seasons. While he has brought energy and eyes to Colorado, given that he has two of the top draft prospects in this year's draft, to be one game over .500 I can't say we have the next Tom Landry on our hands.

3. I do hope he remains in college, but coaching the Cowboys would be spectacular and must-watch television.

Well luckily the Bears haven't hired anyone since they were denied permission to talk to him.  So he could land on his feet in the windy city.

I know Coach Prime and Jerry have that history, but seeing the way he just did McCarthy wrong, I'd be leary of going anywhere near Dallas, for the time being.

Which is what Jerry craves.   Must-watch TV, with winning championships a distant second.

Biggest hindrance to hiring Sanders would be that I think he would want to coach his son and never coach against him. With the Giants having the third pick and looking for a new QB, Deion would possibly have to face Shedur twice a year if picked by the G-men!

We were talking about this last night.  Is there a possibility of the Cowboys trading Dak & possible picks to move up to get Shedeur

This would be such a circus.  The Cowboys will win nothing as long as Jones remains owner.

Jerry is the modern day PT Barnum.

It has been over 10,500 days since the Cowboys last appeared in the NFC Championship game.  A factoid that warms the heart.

I'm still not sure why they denied the Bears the opportunity to talk to McCarthy, only to fire him a week later. Is there a financial reason? Surely this firing didn't just happen.

Deion won't take the job if he doesn't think there's an almost certainty that they will draft Shedeur.

Troy Aikman said yesterday that he doesn't see the Cowboys job as a coveted position. Said he expected McCarthy to be back. Pretty telling opinion from the ex-Cowboy.

And I think every NFL team knows that, so if you're the Giants, you get a King's ransom for that top draft spot, which I think would further ruin things for the Cowboys.
