Lou is a good coach and will land somewhere.  But I agree with him being let go.  The defense was consistently mediocre with flashes of really good play.  That side of the ball here needs a new voice.

No market for him. Did him a favor releasing him so he can get on other teams' free agent radar.

Pratt might see that same happen for/to him.

Sam Hubbard announced his retirement from the NFL today.

From CincyJungle.com:

“I want to send a sincere thank you to my teammates, coaches, trainers, support staff, Bengals ownership, and the NFL for everything you all have done for me,” said Hubbard. “I could not have done any of this alone. To the fans — Who Dey Nation — I thank you the most; you inspired me. From the years of struggle and adversity to Super Bowl LVI, you never stopped believing. I hope I made you proud.”

I know there is another thread on this, thanks @Adrian Woj Burner, but I wanted to add it here too because it is important for the 2025 Bengals, opens up cap space, and keeps the Bengals from having to make an unpopular decision.

Thanks for the memories, Sam!

Did he ever get back to active status last season from the unknown troubles that sidelined him?

Is he worth anything more than a 6th or 7th round pick?

His 2024 grade from Pro Football Focus has him the 49th best TE in the NFL.

Heard through the grapevine that it was approximately. 30 million a piece for both Chase and Hendrickson, with Higgins being around 20 million.

That is a TON of money being spent, and supposedly, there are parties not happy with these deals. If it gets much worse, it will be these three, Burrow, and a team full of practice squad bodies.

One thing for certain, Crosby's deal was very hurtful to the chances of keeping Trey.

Trey is hitting the wrong side of 30 to give a huge deal to for that position. I'm fine with letting him play out the deal and get his big pay day elsewhere.

1. Yes he did.

2. 6th or 7th rounders are coin flips on even making rosters, so probably. I'd offer a 5th, they'd say no, and then I'd go on with my day.

They just gave Trey Hendrickson permission to look for a trade. Typical Bengals.

AKA he wants more money and/or more years than they are willing to throw down on the table.  Trey was always going t be the trickiest of the 3.  He's played the last 3 seasons and really earned the money he wants, but he's on the wrong side of 30 and most teams are smart enough to not lock in long term for a lineman on that age range.

This organization is so frustrating.  Makes it hard to be optimistic about the team.  I have no faith.  None.  That the front office leaders are capable of fielding a championship level team year in and year out.  Honestly, that isn’t a very bold statement — just look at the history of the organization.  Hard to find sustained winning and impossible to find consistent championship level periods.  We draft poorly or average at best.  We seem to miss on more free agents than we get right.  We have no creativity with contracts or deals.  We are always behind the league trends with how to manage the cap and build a team.  We are cheap.  All teams spend the same due to the salary cap, but don’t like to guarantee money or pay upfront.  We don’t like to negotiate early for new deals.  Not to mention little things that the players expect to be covered by the team, that we don’t. Off season will be interesting and the upcoming years with the stadium should be true fireworks.  I live in NKY, so it’s not really my fight, but I am a former season ticket holder (kids happened) and fan.  I don’t believe this team deserves a dime of extra taxpayer dollars to fund their new stadium.  Last season was so disappointing and wasted.  It appears we are starting off this season down the same path.  It’s early, I could be wrong.  But history agrees with my opinion.
