For the trying to save his job crowd, I always laugh at that in pro sports when it comes to coaches. The money is guaranteed unless you do something highly unethical. The coin is going to hit the direct deposit, wether he is the coach or not. This isn't the same situation like a high school coach trying to hang on to his small stipend. 

Not talking about the money, talking about the job of coaching Burrows, Chase, Higgins and Hendrickson with the hopes of ownership getting intellectually engaged to winning……versus just riding the wave of NFL franchise value increases.

I am hoping for a 2023 season re-run from him.

Athletic had a tongue-in-check comment about why the Bengals didn’t consider Jamies Winston from New York……”why buy Winston an airline ticket when Flacco can just drive his car from Cleveland”.  Loved it.

This isn't too far off for a lot of us, it is about the Bengals new QB, humor of course!

I'm not @futurecoach, but it makes sense to me. I agree with what @sportsfan41 said about Wilson losing a step. In addition, it make sense that a new D Coordinator would want to play his rookies to get them experience as you are trying to build your defense. It makes even more sense to me when there isn't a drop-off in LB play when Wilson isn't on the field. Unfortunately for Logan, we don't have very much depth at the position so I do not see the Bengals dealing him. Trey on the other hand...

It makes sense to me too.  I wonder how each of the players grade out on Pro Football Focus.  However, more and more I am hearing talking heads being critical of PFF grades so who knows.

I personally think he hasn’t really played that well in two years. While the young guys haven’t done great either. They are also rookies and learning, and the drop off hasn’t really been that steep from the play Wilson has given last two years. 
 

Taylor and company have always shown they are not afraid to move on from veterans and give young guys a chance once that veteran starts losing a step.  Which they were right in most of those cases. Dunlap, Atkins, Green, all were losing a step when Bengals started giving other guys chances. Fans just have a harder time moving on and seeing it. The also were right in realizing Dalton wasn’t the guy, at least in terms of being able to take the next step with. Which benching him to give Finley a look led to us also getting Burrow. 
 

For me personally that is why I have always liked Taylor the head coach. As they aren’t afraid to move on if a guys play dips. Taylor the play caller is the guy I have questioned.

Reminds me of the Patriots under Big Bill, I remember him once talking about moving on from players while they still have a couple of years left in the tank because those years are not their best years.

Exactly! Never easy moving on from popular players, but usually it is the right move. I know it was before Taylor was here. However, at the time I also agreed with them when they let Whit go. He was 34 and already played under 3 contracts with the Bengals. The thinking was correct when they moved on from him. Ultimately he proved them wrong as he shown he still had plenty left in the tank. However, more time than not a team will be right in those situations. 
 

The Bengals issue is while they may be smart to move on. You better also be drafting well, to have guys to replace them. Or go get free agents that would better. Which is where they been swinging and missing though.
