If it doesn't impact ticket sales, the Bengals do not care about public perception.  They believe this is between the team and this player (it is), and they have no obligation to explain anything to the media or the public.  They are slowly coming into current times, but when it comes to contracts, they are still in the 80's.

Will they sign Hendrickson now? They have the revenue and expense picture more clear. I hear reports today that TJ Watt is looking to beat Myles Garrett's contract - both in annual and in guarantee money. Watt is 31 years old. This is going down just like Chase's negotiations - the Bengals wait and the price goes up. Remember, Micah Parsons is going to sign a new deal soon.

I was surprised by the difference too and it made me question if that is all accurate or not.  Joe is so far beyond everyone in that important stat it almost doesn't seem possible.
