"Concerns about Francona's health in recent years caused him to miss time and led to questions of whether he wanted to continue managing despite the success. When Francona stepped down from the Guardians on Oct. 3, 2023, he said: "I need to go home and get healthy and see what I miss about the game. I don't foresee managing again.""

I guess he missed it more than he thought he would.

Pretty happy with this hire, this is exactly who I wanted.

A baseball and physical maturity, and actual high level management experienced leader is what the doctor ordered for this bunch.

Not sure why he would want to take this job.

Now firing Bell with a week left makes sense. They must’ve gotten tipped off that Tito was ready and wanted to start negotiations before someone else did.

He said that he thought the Reds had more young talent than any team in Baseball.

Are you kidding? He inherits one of the most talented younger rosters in all of MLB, and he knows how much Cincinnati loves baseball and their Reds. I am beyond ecstatic. I hope this forum becomes the forum it was a few years back during baseball season. Man, did we have some great series threads and discussions. LET’S GO!!!!

It will be very interesting how the players adjust to his managerial style.  The nice thing about young players is they tend to adjust rather quickly.   Not having a bunch of older players who want to "do what they do" (Kind of makes me think of the movie Major League) had to be a huge selling point.  Now if the Reds can figure out the injury issues and why players can't stay healthy at the major league level in this organization, things can move upward quickly.

One the most talented young rosters in baseball. I am sure Francona sees a lot of potential in this group. Sorry to be redundant. I posted this reply before seeing the other replies above.

Check out baseball rosters around MLB. Almost every team in baseball has multiple key players who deal with injury issues. The Reds aren't that different on the injury side of things.

On the hiring, how often do you get a chance to hire a manager headed to the Hall of Fame.

But everyone brace yourselves. That likely doesn't matter in Reds country. Francona will be questioned by Reds fans like he is a fool who lost all reason in the one year off.

We just got 7-10 games better.

Hopefully, a good assistant coaching staff will get us another 5 more games.
