Let's get a thread rolling where we can share restaurant experiences - good and bad. So many people eat out today. I know we eat out a lot more than we used to. Let's share the good and the bad. I'll start with what prompted me to think about this thread.

Last night the wife and I went to City Barbecue in Florence. I think I may have eaten food from there in the past but I don't recall ever stopping in there. Not to spoil the ending, but I will definitely be back. If you like what I call "down home" foods, this is spot you must hit. I had collared greens, corn pudding and really enjoyed them. We sampled the meats - pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket and all were excellent. Good sized portions. They had hush puppies on the menu and that surprised me. The manager said they are really good so I tried them. The BEST hush puppies I've ever had. I could stop by and get a couple orders of those by themselves. They were doing a steady carryout business so people like the place, and I am right there with them. It is a little like a Chipotle food service where you go through the line and there is seating but the atmosphere and music were good. They have some sampler platters so you can try a few items and share. I really enjoyed everything about this place. It always starts with the food and the food was fantastic!

Here's another place I recommend - La Torta Loca. A different kind of menu. Excellent quality. Arepas, tortas, empanadas. Huge sandwiches. I have friends from South America who will travel from Mason to N. Ky. to get food from La Torta Loca. The best testimonial -  they are adding locations. Started in a little strip center in Florence. Outgrew that and opened at the corner of 42 and Pleasant Valley Rd in Florence. Now also have a Crescent Springs location, a few doors down from Bonefish.

Only place I have gone to recently where I dined in was Dave and Busters, in Florence.  Went largely because my daughters and their friends wanted to play games.  That part was fine.

The service was just Ok, but the food was WAY too over priced for the portion sizes and just wasn't that good.

Want to play games and have a drink, fine.   But I do not recommend dining there.

I was just there a month or so ago for a company outing. Didn't really pay attention to pricing since it was on the company dime. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the food. Certainly not gourmet, but I thought it was solid....about on par with any other large chain restaurant.

Not a place though that you go for great food and service I wouldn't think. I think for most, Dave and Busters is a gaming place where you can get decent food, and the food is secondary to the experience. Probably not going there for a quiet date night out with your significant other...unless you're looking to play carnival games.

I agree about the "quiet" part.  It wasn't.  It reminded me a lot of the constant buzz and ringing that you hear at a Vegas casino restaurant.

We ate there a few weeks ago.  I would also recommend this.

City Barbecue is great, and I've been to that location in Florence. It did not disappoint.

Since the kids grew up and flew the coop, we eat out a lot.  One of my favorite places for a casual meal is PeeWees in Crescent Springs.  Peewee is a Cov Cath grad and super nice guy.  The staff is friendly and food is good.  They have a lot of local regulars, and the wait staff knows most customers by name.  If you go for breakfast, I would highly suggest the H breakfast sandwich.  Not very healthy, but sooo good.  There is a nice lunch and dinner selection.  Their home made ranch dressing is great on salads.

if you have children, there are games to play for a quarter, including an old time indoor bowling game.

So many great food options in Louisville, we are truly spoiled. It would be impossible for me to list all the good places we've eaten here.

My daughter played in volleyball tournaments in Louisville when she was in high school. We always picked up Wicks Pizza there.  It was delicious and I miss it!

Wicks is usually awesome. A big variety of pizzas to choose from and they're all good.

It's been quite a while since I've been to Pee Wees but the food is always good. For breakfast, I'm a big fan of Sis's on Monmouth in Newport. I spent a few years getting their biscuits and gravy, which are great. But I absolutely love their Southwestern Omelet nowadays.

We eat out at least 3 nights every week, Texas roadhouse in florence and Raffertys are a couple of our favorites, if I'm going to drive a few miles, we enjoy Jewels in Warsaw, also like Buckheads on the river in Newport.

Texas Roadhouse and Rafferty's are very good.

I need to get to Jewels. Everyone I know who has been there sings their praises.

Been a while since I've been to Buckheads but I've always had good experiences there.
