Is the SEC down this year?

Does that become a factor and a way for the committee to exclude the SEC this year?

It’s a wonder those NAIA players (congratulations to Georgetown College on advancing, by the way) get any education at all.

That does not help FSU's case.

That does not help FSU's case.

One argument against them is that their best OOC win is Kentucky’s win over Louisville. The basis for SEC teams is what it has been many years - history of success by the top teams that make the playoff/public perception and beating other SEC teams. I have no idea what metrics drive the RPI and whether it accounts for historical results before this year, so I can’t argue against a computer rating. I think the SEC is not as good as they’ve been, but they’re also almost always living off the rep of the top of the conference and somehow that filters down to everyone. 
 

One thing I’ve found interesting from some sources is that the SEC is held in such high esteem but when LSU is noted as a significant win by FSU it is waved away. Apparently it only means more when they’re playing each other.

Bingo. Or when they actually get an OOC win. 

We are 10 minutes away it is interesting all of the people on the ESPN panel except one person has the following:

Michigan

Washington 

Texas

Florida State

One person has Bama instead of Fla. State. It looks like they all think Texas is in and it is between Bama and Florida State for the #4 spot. We will see. If the SEC is left out (which I think there is a legit case for it) I am going to get some popcorn in and tune into the SEC Network from 3-7 tomorrow to watch the Paul Finebaum show. It should be must watch tv. lol

RPI has no historical component, it is solely based on the current season.

If ESPN were smart they would get the top 4 done before NFL kickoffs at 1:00pm. They are lucky that other than Niners/Eagles they are not a lot of good games today, but still viewing will drop off starting at 1:00. They should have the top 4 selected by then and then next start setting the other various bowl matchups.
