Tell me you didn't watch Highlands play early or late with one post.

Highlands lost to CovCath in August by a score of 21-35. If you watched the game, it was hardly domination.  That game gave Highlands an identity as a running football team that also took advantage of teams stacking the box with quick passes. Highlands was a much better team in October/November.

Its unfortunate for Highlands that their district play started with Cooper because that was their biggest competition in the district. Dixie was no slouch either, but they didn't match up well with Highlands at all. The back end of Highlands schedule allowed for them to stay healthy, but also cost them any adversity, that's what cost them in the end. The last time they had to sweat was the sept 22nd game vs Cooper and even then they were a pick 6 away from winning that game by 4 tds.

Did Cooper have to hang on for dear life? Yes. Was Highlands better than any team BG has played in 5A this year. By far, yes.

I'm not convinced they are better than South Warren.  Could they be?  Yes, but could South beat them - Yes.

Highlands "by far" better than LCA, Bryan Station, and South Warren? Ehhhhhhhh

Bryan Station is significantly better than Cooper, CovCath, BG, and CAL (Highlands too).

As a Ryle fan, we got to see all of those teams up close (except BG). Different levels to this game and those teams aren't on their level.

Cooper is only getting so much recognition because Highlands fans are clinging to them for dear life so the loss doesn’t look like as much of an underperformance as it really was.  I think Cooper is a very good and capable football team, but if you read the forums over the past few days you’d think they’re the best team in the state.

I'm not so sure. Highlands and South Warren would be a very good game.

I wouldn't call them significantly better than BG, just look at the game they played this season. Bowling Green had every opportunity to win as well.

1. Cov Cath owned Highlands in the 2nd half of that game. They outscored the Birds 21-7 in the 2nd half.

2. "By far" is where you stumbled. Having watched Highlands several time this year and having seen the South/BG game, I would say South would have beat or at least been in the game with Highlands. I would also say that late in the season Owensboro would have hung with them as well if for no other reason than Highlands apparently just abandoned the pass.

Cooper is significantly better now than they were when they played Ryle.

I think Ryle got significantly better too. Bryan Station certainly got better as well.

I would agree with your list after watching all 6 championship games except I would flip Mayfield and CAL. They had a common opponent in Lexington Christian Academy. LCA lost to them 14-12 and Mayfield defeated LCA by 22 (58-36). I think I would also flip Bell Co. and Pikeville as well. Pikeville defeated Belfry by 19 and Bell Co. beat them by 3.

Never really think much about these posts when I read them.

But I will say that I would love to see a Boyle County vs. Trinity game next weekend.

Hey @thegurumake it happen - the Bluegrass Preps Bowl!

And I don't know if CAL would lose to anyone but those two teams.
