The Class 1A stars have aligned and we are set for a rematch from last years Class 1A title game and this years regular season matchup between Pikeville and Raceland.

These two teams have been the best two teams in the class this year and no one else expected anything else less than these two teams to meet again.

Pikeville will bring its power running game in this one with big Brendan Anthony leading the way. You add several other playmakers in Tayvian Boykins and Jeb Wilkerson. The Pikeville defense is led by freshman linebacker Jeremiah Anderson and Junior Brendan Anthony who have accounted for over 200 tackles on the season.

Raceland will also bring its ground and pound running game lead by Noah Wallace, Jaxon Heighton, and Quarterback Logan Lundy. Lundy will have two stud Parker’s to throw too in Parker Fannin and Parker Ison. 
The Raceland defense will also be lead by Noah Wallace, Jaxon Heighton, and Cameron Bell who have accounted for over 200 tackles as well. 
 

The 11-2 Pikeville Panthers offenses comes into this game averaging just over 30 points per game, and defensively giving up close to 12 points per game.

The 11-3 Raceland Rams offenses comes into this game averaging just over 34 points per game, and defensively giving up just over 16 points per game.

Who wins the Class 1A State Championship? Does Pikeville get revenge from the regular season loss and get that 3 peat? Does Raceland beat Pikeville again with Brendan Anthony and prove it didn’t matter if he played or not?

This is the rematch everyone wanted to see!

Unless your name is “RPI”. The RPI had them at 3 and 6. Seriously KHSAA, this is broken and needs to be fixed. If this is the best we can do, then just put the playoff teams in a hat and pick them out for home field advantage. That makes more sense than this garbage. 
 

Everyone that has ever seen a football game knew these two teams were the top two teams in the class. 
 

I’m a little sensitive about polishing a turd and calling it pretty. 

As for the prediction. I’m going with my Rams. Since they won the regular season matchup 7-6, I’ll go with Raceland by 1. 

I'd like to see Raceland, but I think Pikeville wins 14-13.

Haven’t seen Raceland, but I was at the Pikeville/Campbellsville game. Campbellsville pushed Pikeville to the wire and had opportunities to knock them off. HOWEVER, Pikeville has the l makeup of a championship team and they make winning plays. Title stays in Pikeville another year. I’ll go 34-14 final score. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they roll off another 2-3 looking at that roster.

Totally agree. In 5a Cooper is ninth. Beat 3 higher ranked teams in the playoffs ON THE ROAD. There is no reward for improvement.

Exactly.  If you are going to penalize teams for playing a strong schedule, you are going to entice programs to avoid playing the strong programs to get better.  That will equal mediocre football in Kentucky. 

I think Raceland gets their state championship, it will be tough but I think they get it. Should be a very close and good game. This could be one of the better games this coming championship weekend. Good luck to both teams.

Is it good or bad that Raceland beat Pikeville early in the season? Good, perhaps, because it proved the Rams could play with the Panthers and are championship material. Bad, perhaps, because Pikeville was always the better team and now the fire is lit under a program accustomed to winning state championships.
