Is it good or bad that Raceland beat Pikeville early in the season? Good, perhaps, because it proved the Rams could play with the Panthers and are championship material. Bad, perhaps, because Pikeville was always the better team and now the fire is lit under a program accustomed to winning state championships.

It’s always hard to beat a good team twice.

The Pikeville social media machine delivers again.

  • Unless your name is “RPI”. The RPI had them at 3 and 6. Seriously KHSAA, this is broken and needs to be fixed. If this is the best we can do, then just put the playoff teams in a hat and pick them out

My understanding is #35 for Pikeville Did Not play the last time these teams meet. He is a Game Changer and Will have an impact on this Game... Good Luck to Both Teams...

Brenden Anthony being healthy for this game when he didn't play in the regular season game is like adding 3 players to Pikeville.

Raceland is well equipped to battle and potentially win, but I expect Anthony to play a key role as Pikeville wins another title.

I think Raceland gets their state championship, it will be tough but I think they get it. Should be a very close and good game. This could be one of the better games this coming championship weekend. Good luck to both teams.

Exactly my thoughts as well. Lots of hype (rightfully so IMO) about these two programs all year in 1A. RPI did not get it right.

Also...why is the KHSAA seeding the regional finals? Why not just seed the Regional Champions (seed 1 thru 4) and make it "Regional Champion" an accurate accomplishment. RPI has too much weight and doesn't pass the logic test imo.

Title stays in Pikeville another year. I’ll go 34-14 final score. And I wouldn’t be surprised if they roll off another 2-3 looking at that roster.

I'm with you on the next few years. This was the year to get Pikeville. What they've done this season is a testament to the job McNamee has done building depth in that program. How many teams lose a Blake Birchfield, the leading receiver, a lot of size and experience on the o-line, and a ton of production in the defensive front seven and get back to the state finals?

Raceland's going to be around for a while, but this is their best opportunity to get that elusive championship. Pikeville may have it locked down for the foreseeable future.

Could 3rd time be a charm for the Rams?

I think this was the biggest surprise. Played on a Thursday night in Bowling Green due to a WKU/Sun Belt championship game conflict. I didn't go until the weekend but was following on BGP and social media. Remember being surprised at the end result.
