These are two teams that I basically always root for (so long as they aren't facing Cov Cath). From what I've seen, Owensboro has really found their stride in the last 4 or 5 weeks. I know comparing s

Big Players make Big Plays. Whichever team has the ALPHA player on field that noticeably stands out Friday night will, IMO, win the game.

Just for the sake of keeping this post alive. I dare say that player might be in  Red and Black come friday night….

Went back and watched BG play Bryan Station, St. X, South Warren and LCA to look for some keys to success. What all these teams had against BG that made them successful was a good run game and efficient intermediate passing to keep the sticks moving. BG still seems to struggle with the run. This isn’t the Purples defense we’re use to seeing in years passed. Mix that in with the possibility of, that outside of Hensley the Purples might be going against the best/fastest running back they’ve seen all season. With a pretty good Oline to go with it.

Also like to add that losing 2 of the top 3 receivers should in theory make it a little easier to game plan and key on Barber. I’m thinking zone defense with man on Barber would be the way to go. Have to make someone else beat you. I don’t believe BG has that other guy at wide out. I could be wrong but we shall see soon enough.

Is it Friday yet? Let’s go Devils.

Hampton is the difference in this game

Speaking about @PurpleTim best player on the field tomorrow night.

I watched some film on Hampton (some attached) and I will say he has:

1. Great lateral vision coming to the line of scrimmage to see the hole or the hole develop.

2.  He has great size and is difficult to bring down.

3.  He bounces well.  He makes initial contact and bounces outside well.

And he will tough for BG to deal with no doubt about it.

But I will go with Deuce Bailey as the best player on the field tomorrow.  I've provided some below.  Duece has:

1. Great vision.

2. Great command of the BG offense; knows where to look if the play should break down.

3. Great feet; scrambles well.

4.  Can run it is needed.

5.  Through 13 games, he has 206 completions on 294 attempts (70%) for 3,053 yards and 39 TDs and 4 INTs.  That friends is efficiency.

Going to be a great game!

Go Purples!

Deuce will be the most talented player on the field.  Will he be the best?  Depends on how he plays.   If he plays well then yes, if he has a bad game the no.

Going to be a battle.  Glad BG has this game at home.

Agree here.

I know Hampton for O is a fine talent for the Devils. I do have to ask though, is he really more electric than Travey? One of those deals where seeing is believing for me. If he is... That's a tough, tough cover for the Purples.

Hampton is a sub 4.5 40 guy.  Leads the state 5A in rushing TD’s at 24 despite not starting at RB first 4 or 5 games.  Already committed to UK baseball as a sophomore.  Almost every 5th carry has been a TD.  Also leads team in receiving yards at 515 (he started there early season).

But comparing him and a WR is not a fair comparison.  Barber is electric - put 3 on O last game,

Right. I wasn't characterizing him solely as an RB due to the facts you mentioned - but I digress. Should be a great watch tonight.

Coach Fallin said “Hampton is as fast as any kid we’ve had here in a long time”.  That is saying something at Owensboro.
