A Boyle county player seemed to dive into the end zone over a pile of Corbin players, is that not considered a hurdle? I just don't understand how we could say that hurdling is too dangerous but diving head first isn't.

You answered your own question. You said that the Boyle County player dived into the end zone. A dive is not a hurdle. The wording the the penalty says that a hurdle is an attempt to jump with one or both feet, or knees foremost over an opponent who is contacting the ground with no part of his body except one or both of his feet.

Diving head first is not jump with your feet or knees foremost. And, if it was a pile of Corbin players then they had more than just their feet on the ground.

Boyle

Plays 41-278 yards

Rushing 39 243 yards 3 TDs

Passing 5-7 35 yards 1 Int

1st downs 10

3rd down conv. 2/5

4th down conv. 0/2

Penalties 4-40 yards

Red Zones 2/2

Qyisenberry 17 Carrie’s 220 yards 2 TDS

That is crazy when you look at those stats. The rest of Boyle had 22 rushing attempts (unless some were sacks) for 23 yards. That is some tough sledding for the rest of run game.

So what? You only have one football. Go with your best option!

Thank you for clarifying that. I guess it seems like in this example the rulebook is talking out of both sides of its mouth. I would think that jumping headfirst in any situation whether to catch the ball, make a tackle, or advance the ball could result in a more serious injury than a hurdle would.

I'd also say that Corbin didn't lose the game because of the hurdle penalty, Boyle beat them because of their ability to get their athletes the ball in open space and take advantage of a short field after a blocked punt.

Boyle threw 2 interceptions, not 1.

The so what is seeing how impressive the performance was by the kid. It shows how he was able to take over a game.

They had zero passing game with the pressure from twins, and a great player does what a great player does to bail his team out.  I agree 100 percent.

With all these ifs and buts allowed here. What If Corbin didn’t have the twins.
Running clock.
Hurdling rule is real, don’t do it.  Lower your pads and get 3 extra yards that way.

That’s why ifs and buts don’t work well.  Congrats Corbin on a 12-1 season.  Boyle has to win 2 more.   All the teams from here on out were good teams.  No one should be overlooked.

Congrats to Boyle on the win.

I'll say it again, Tavey was the best player on the field again, also Boyle loses that game without him.

Why is this a thing? Boyle loses without him. Corbin doesn't go undefeated in the regular season without the twins. The Chicago Bulls don't win all those titles without Michael Jordan. You can say that about almost anything. Fact is, Boyle has better players, better coaching, and knows what it takes better than anyone, how to win the big games.

Agree.  Not sure the point, it’s the same theory if Boyle didn’t have Quiz.
