Mark it down

I used to love a good "Mark it down" statement.

This one doesn't seem like too far of a stretch. I don't think anybody would be too surprised.

Six weeks ago it would have been an out there statement, but certainly within the realm now. I felt Bama was destined for 3-4 losses after their loss to Texas. Saban has done a solid job rallying the troops.

I agree and wouldn’t see it as much of a surprise unless it’s to people in Georgia. Alabama has played better as of late. Assuming both finishes their seasons without a loss, what happens in the CFP if Alabama beats Georgia in the SEC championship game?

This could challenge all "SEC bias" conspiracies. It is quite possible the Big 10 champ (Ohio State or Michigan) and the Pac-12 champ (Washington) will be undefeated. They would both make the playoffs. If a 1-loss Texas wins the Big 12, they'd have a road win over SEC champion Alabama so you have to think the Longhorns go to the playoffs. That would have to put Alabama in because they beat Georgia, but leave the Bulldogs at #5, right?

I think the big question that hits here is if Washington runs the table in the PAC-12.  They aren't even favored in their game against Oregon State this week because they've looked shaky in their last few games.  If they stumble, that is going to leave the committee with a tough call between a 1-loss Georgia team and a 1-loss Oregon team BUT that Oregon team is going to have a possible advantage if they beat Washington in the PAC-12 title game and avenge that defeat on the road earlier in the season.

I like the Dawgs in a close one.  In the few common opponents they have I think Georgia has looked better.

The scenarios could be interesting depending on how various things might happen.

I believe you are missing a certain ACC team that is currently undefeated and favored to remain so.

Michigan or OSU will be undefeated and Big 10 Champ. If Oregon and Washington meet again, Oregon will win that rematch, Oregon has played much better since that loss than Washington has. If Bama beats Georgia, you have to take Bama over Texas, for 2 reasons, one they knocked off the 2-time defending NC, and if Bama was to play Texas now, Bama would be them according to the eye test. My final 4 would be 1 Michigan, 2. Oregon, 3. Bama, 4. Georgia.

Both teams still have games this weekend against other opponents.  A lot can happen before Georgia and Bama play each other.

Results have to matter at some point. Texas beat Bama AT Bama.

Results mattered back in September, but we are at the end of November now. Texas has been Bama's only loss, while Texas lost to a Average OK team, and struggled against K-State and Iowa St. Texas is not as good late in the season as they were in September, while Bama has continued to improve week in and week out. If those two were to play now, Bama beats them by 2 TD's.

So are you telling me that Texas is a better team now, than they were in September?
