Disclaimer: I'd like to say the above statement is meant as a joke, before someone gets their feathers ruffled.

I really think there are a number of parallels between the job Coach Petrino did at UofL and the job that Coach Saban did at LSU. One coach took a school to new heights (Petrino) the other brought a former champion back to the top (Saban). Needless to say both stepped on some toes in doing so. In both cases it was a matter of time before they moved on. They both needed to. I only hope Coach Petrino likes his new home better than Coach Saban. Otherwise he may be back to haunt the Cards down the road.

I do find it ironic that Louisville felt like they had one of the best coaches in the nation. He leaves for the NFL, and they get a coach that's even better? At this rate, Tom Jurich will have plenty of buildings with his name on it by the time he leaves Louisville.

Bobby Petrino was a great play caller, but it's possible for Kragthorpe to be a better coach.

I know John L. Smith was wrong for leaving Louisville basically in the middle

of a bowl game, but geez. Petrino, who really put the Cardinal program on the

I honestly don't hear the same things about Petrino that I heard about Smith. From what I have seen UL fans in general have been pretty supportive of him, since I live in Louisville and am from Louisville then I think it is likely I would have a pretty good idea.

 

There are a few idiots out there who want to lynch him, or any number of things mentioned on facebook but I would be willing to say just as many fans were saying the same things about Saban when he left LSU, or when Pitino left UK and so on. This sort of thing happens all the time. I have been amazed at how positive things have been around here with regards to Petrino honestly.

Most LSU fans were fine with Coach Saban leaving to live his dream in the NFL. He gave us a national title and left the program much better than he found it. But if he thinks he will be welcomed back with open arms when runs on the field dressed in crimson in two years... well he is in for a rude awakening.

Good article, and I understand he is trying to fire up some Louisville fans. But I do not hold ANY animosity towards Bobby Petrino, only thanks.

I have no ties to Trinity, and I don't hold anything against Petrino either. The thing is, he brought Louisville to the highest point it has yet seen. We are in the Golden age of Louisville football, how can you hate the man who helped bring us there?

A coach leaving and hiring on at a new school or pro team is an inherently unsavory process. Maybe schools should have co-head coaches so that when one leaves, there will still be continuity at the old school. (I say this somewhat tongue-in-cheek.)

I firmly feel that Jurich is one of the very best AD's in the entire nation, and he will be deemed as a legend by the time that his tenure in the 'Ville. Tom has never made a poor hire.
