Would love to see Mayfield schedule harder, but maybe that’s the plan...It will probably get them home field though, but not very challenging.

Rarely has getting home field advantage in the playoffs been a bad thing for Mayfield.

  • Wish they would change the RPI scoring for out of state teams. It would give a team like Mayfield the opportunity to play tougher competition in Tennessee, Missouri, and Illinois.

I think LCA is more like Barney Fife than a sheriff.

  • Have you watched both LCA games?   I think LCA is the team to beat and like I told Coach Charles this morning I expect LCA to win 2A.

LCA can’t give up 50 points a game and win a championship, and I know what you’re going to say it was against to great offenses but Mayfield, Beechwood and Owensboro Catholic play pretty good offense as well.

Saw the Boyle game. LCA has a good offense, suspect defense. I like Mayfield at home against them, like LCA at home against Mayfield and about even at a neutral site.

This is my worry about LCA as well. I know their first two opponents are absolute monsters but 99 points in two games is a big number. I'm comfortable with them where they are currently ranked but wouldn't be surprised if they won it all in December.

Scheduling is pretty hard. This side of the state is a lot weaker west of bowling green. We have beat up on them so bad no one wants to play. I don’t know what the solution is. Can’t travel 3 or 4 hours every Friday looking for good competition. 9 games this year only. Sad

Just a few years ago (2016ish) there was quite a bit of tough competition near Mayfield, but now not so much.

Is it reasonable to Mayfield to travel to Owensboro or BG each once a year?  I feel like playing either Owensboro, O Cath, BG or SW would be a good schedule booster.

Agree with this.  Would love a Week 2 Bowl at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville with

Christian County, Mayfield, BG and South or Owensboro and go round robin until you play all 4 teams (or 4 years).  You would know who you are playing pretty far in advance.

IF RPI for out of state does not change I think we will have to look at longer travel.  The O'Cath. option will never happen as it is a long standing policy to never play a 2A school.  The BG option or SW option seem doable to me.

Has Mayfield ever played at the Rafferty Bowl in Bowling Green? Seems like a no brainer to me. I would think the gate for them would be much higher too, with all the Mayfield fans being able to travel to the game.

With this being the first year of home and home series with most clubs, Mayfield will lose another game with the consolidation of H'Town/Christian Co. putting us down to 8. I see no way to fix this but to get a week two bowl game in 2024.

How about Owensboro?

Victims of your own success, truly.

LCA hands down best team in 2A. Even if you think their Defense is suspect,  teams will still have to put up 60 to beat them.

Idk what the rafferty bowl is but within the last 10 years I believe mayfield did travel to BG for a double header of some kind. We definitely played warren central at BG somewhere. I think they beat us one year then we came back the next year And won.

It's the season opener bowl game BG has the 1st week. This it was BG vs LCA and Boyle vs an Indiana team at WKU. I believe it's a 2 year deal, but could be wrong, most are. I just think it would make a lot of sense for Mayfield to try to be part of that.

They played WC once in 2012 and haven’t played them again since. Jonathan Jackson’s Senior year. Central won
