The Reds are currently 1.5 games back in the division. They are tied with the Cubs for the 3rd Wild Card spot.

The Brewers had a very favorable schedule early on in the season. The Cubs recently had a favorable stretch, but are playing on fire no matter who they are playing.

The Reds have a tough stretch in a couple weeks centered around the Blue Jays and may have the most favorable schedule between them, the Brew Crew and the Cubbies. If the Redlegs can't get back to playing inspired (I think they will) baseball, it doesn't matter who you are playing.

The Reds need to get back to battling in at-bats. Way too many strikeouts recently. After the All-Star break they ran into the buzz saw of a ton of good pitching. Recently, they've seen pitching that is far from stellar and still loading up on K's. They need to get back into the mindset of stringing together a couple of singles, and being aggressive on the bases.

Wrong sport here and I think his quotes get cheesy, but Mike Tomlin once said, "Pressure is constant. You either feel it or you apply it". The Reds have looked like they feel it lately. When things were going great they were applying it.

  • The unmitigated gall of someone not considering that the Reds would be contending about now.  Terrible foresight.

This is probably true, but they just got swept at home by one of the 5 or 6 worst teams in the league. Plus, the Reds are currently 0-6 in the month of August. The Cubs won 2of 3 from the Braves.

On a positive note, they still have 48 games to play. I think the key will be the last 10 games of August will on be on the road for another west coast swing. It will be 3 vs. the Angels, 4 vs. the Diamondbacks, and 3 vs. the Giants. They play the Marlins tomorrow who have lost 4 in a row and 5 of their last 6, so something will have to give.

Finally, a little bit of trivia not good for the Reds. Lyon Richardson who made his major league debut today after having some success in the minors since the pitch count started being used, he is the first person in the era to have his first two pitches in the major league hit for home runs.

Reds win 5-2 tonight. Cubs down 7-2 in the 7th in a game that is delayed and the Brewers are down to the Rockies 1-0 in the 4th. Hope both those hold on!

It's not looking good, better get it together.

Michael Lorenzen (ex-Red) who played 7 seasons with the Reds for 7 seasons (2015-2021) threw a no-hitter for the Phillies today vs. the Nationals.

Yup, lots of speculation,  but that deal never came to fruition.

Well, it looks like that Bell may be thinking Elly may not be a leadoff hitter. I personally would like to see him hitting 2nd but we will see how it goes tonight.

Dang, poor Stephenson looks like a blind man looking for a black sock in a dark room at the plate, just pathetic

Maile should be playing at least 3 times a week.   He's much better on the defense end and he's been hitting much better than Stephenson

Absolutely agree!!!

and when Stephenson does play WHY does he hit in front of Benson??  I think we should add 5 years to Bell’s extension!!

There’s a difference in reckless and stupid. That was just ignorant.
