Cincinnati Reds bullpen ?

21 straight scoreless innings by #Reds pen ‼️
1 Friday
6 Saturday (5 relievers)
3 Sunday (3 relievers)
6 Tuesday (6 relievers)
5 tonight  (7 relievers)

The big question is can they do it for 2 more weeks or 15 more games.

Baseball is ups and downs. You can't go by one game or even a few games and make proclamations.

It wasn't a proclamation, just my opinion.  Sometimes I'm correct and sometimes I'm wrong, time will tell.LOL

In baseball, an opinion will be wrong as much as it will be right. Every manager in baseball is wrong and right every night. It's the nature of the sport.

So, you're saying every manager is created equal?

No, I am saying the best managers in baseball have multiple decisions in every game go wrong. Thus, it is easy to complain every game about every manager and call every manager in baseball an idiot every game.

No, I don't think every manager in baseball ia an idiot.  However, I stand by my statement that the Reds should have brought in some fresh arms for the stretch run.  Yes, I do question Mr. Bell's ability to manage a pitching staff.

Well, I guess I should not have posted the bullpen stats last night that went south very quickly. lol

A lot of moving parts with this Reds staff.  The Reds have to have one of the worst starting pitching staffs in MLB. That means a lot of pitching moves are needed every night.

Just googled it. As of the end of June, Reds starting pitchers were #27 in MLB. And I think the staff has been even worse since then.

I really don't know how the Reds are contending for a wild card. David Bell will get manager of the year votes if the Reds make the playoffs.

Here are some more stats on the Reds starting staff. These are current stats:

ERA 5.40 .... 27th in MLB

Wins 32 ..... 26th in MLB

HR's allowed 135 .... 27th in MLB (3rd worst)

Earned runs allowed ... 2nd most in MLB, only the Rockies starters have allowed more

One of the worst starting pitching staffs in MLB. And yet the Reds are in the wild card race.

With the schedule the Reds have had and still have in front of them they should’ve made the playoffs EASILY, now it looks like it’s going down to the wire, only team in baseball with a winning record on the road and a losing record at home

How in the world did Bader have a 1200 ops vs  lefties when we got him???

Dear Lord, totally gagged today.  Absolute choke job.  Wasted 7 stellar innings by Greene.  Stick a fork in our guys.

That one today hurts. No doubt about it. I think we need to go 6-2 in the last 8 and no worse than 5-3 to have a shot and I am not sure 5-3 will do it. Hey we have a shot at making the playoffs on Sept. 20 I doubt any of us thought that was a possibility in April.

That’s very true. Still feels like a tease. Lol

Why? With one of the worst starting pitching staffs in baseball, I don't think there could be any expectations and certainly not "easily". There isn't one steady played on this entire team that the Reds could hang their hat on. The closest to that is Spencer Steer and he is a rookie.

David Bell will get votes for manager of the year the way he piecemealed this hodgepodge of retreads, castoffs and rookies into playoff contention till late September.
