He had a slow start kind of but I have a feeling he’s beginning to develop into what I thought he was going to. Several teams very well may be kicking themselves, particularly one out of Cincinnati.

He could still land in Cinci at some point.  

Bengals really could have used him this year.  He would have gotten a lot more playing time than Miles Murphy is getting.

Why do you think that? Mayer was getting very little playing time before having a good game last week. Rookies are rookies. Hard to come in and make an immediate impact.

TE are so hit and miss unless your name is Kelce.  Even then you have to have a QB that will force you the ball.  With Chase, Higgins and Mixon, the TE on the Bengals will always be fighting for 4th place in targets with Boyd and the WR4.  Last year Hurst was 5th in targets.  In '21 Uzomah was 4th.

Do you watch the Bengals?  He would by far be the best tight end on their team.  I have been most impressed by his blocking, which we all know they could use to help the offensive line.  The Bengals have gotten little to nothing from the position.  About as much as they have gotten from Murphy.

It is not the targets, the guy is a great blocker and that is much needed with this offensive line.  Don't get me wrong, if they were to get a good one, he will get plenty of targets, especially this year, all the Bengals have done is throw 10 yard or less passes all year.

I know nothing about PPF grades but they have Mayer wayyy down the list with a 60 grade.  Drew Sample and Irv Smith are both above him.  Hayden Hurst isn't much higher than those two.  Uzomah is top 10 this year.

Nice play. I think I heard that the Jets have now had like 32 straight possessions without a touchdown. That is insane and if they win this one with scoring one they would have won 2 of their last 3 games and have the same record as the Bengals.
