IF, it's Keith Adkins why isn't it a good hire?  He's coached collegiately at 3 different places- Campbellsville University (the big campus), Life University and Lindsey Wilson.  And most recently, has won a district championship @ Campbellsville HS.  Like I said earlier, maybe not the biggest splash ever but still a very credible coach with plenty of experience/success.

Austin Sparrow may have youth on his side compared to some coaches but that is a veteran move in the coaching profession there. Withdraw your name so you can say I withdrew instead of not getting fired, that's a savvy play up there with resigning from the position before getting fired.

Excuse me, that should have stated withdrew instead of not getting hired, and that's a savvy play up there with resigning from the position before getting fired. 

Adkins has been very good at 1A school Campbellsville winning 2 district championships in 3 seasons with a talent pool that pales in the comparison of what Mercer County would give. He has had to play a slower pace and win games in the 40's/50's with Campbellsville due to the talent but in college his teams played much faster.

I’m not familiar with this coach so forgive my ignorance.

I have a source who has said Adkins has accepted the job. We will see if they are right but that's what I am hearing.

Was coach at Life University in Georgia for 2 seasons. Coached at Lindsey Wilson College for 2 seasons and now been coach at Campbellsville High School the last 3 seasons winning 2 district championships. 

He is not a flashy High school coaching name yet but for NAIA he's had 11 20 win seasons and was 3 time coach of the year in the mid south conference. Could not do much better if you are Mercer.

Also took a team to the NAIA National Championship game and won 402 games in his college years. 

Not a name that was mentioned early on but sounds like a high level hire nonetheless. And I’m guessing he would be early 50’s based on his experience, so he’s got some years left for sure.

If you look at what Mercer has coming back for the next 3 years, I expect them to (very) relevant again. And with a guy like that, maybe Mercer gets a kid or two along the way. I think the 12th just got tougher.
