And yes, it does not looking promising at this point for filling out the roster with a couple of reliable veterans, but can we at least wait until football season begins before we starting writing the epitaph for the '23-'24 basketball season?

You do an incredible job balancing those who think UK does no wrong with your takes that UK does no right.

If Frederick wants to play, transfer to NKU.

  • Look how progressive the NCAA has become. Good for them.

The lifetime contract is symbolic in nature, not a $10M+ coaching guarantee the rest of his life.

I know its not for the rest of his life but the buyout on it is far too high and binds UK's hands.  That is what makes UK stuck with Cal for a while longer even if next year's team goes south.

Kentucky right now has only 7 players on scholarship. We need depth fast.

Not a UK fan by a long stretch but there are a ton of high level guys in the portal and the UK brand should bring them in.   Honestly the one thing holding them back is the uncertainty of the UK players like Oscar and Reeves, etc.

UK has just been lacking about reaching out to portal players just because  they don't want to hurt reeves and Tshiebwe's feelings. Kids these days are extremely soft.

Don't expect a stay or go decision for Oscar until 5/31/23  because Oscar still has a workout with the Atlanta Hawks today. Oscar is supposed to sit down and talk about his decision tomorrow and  decide to stay or go. The deadline is 11:59 pm tomorow night.

Is this a fact or is it online conjecture when we are saying UK is not "reaching out" to portal players? I am not sure what separates them from other programs in similar situations? And to be fair, as much of a non-basketball fan of Oscar as I am and I wish UK could move on from him, there is some ego massaging that has to occur and his services aren't unwelcome.

This is a  fact because I follow all the UK insiders and  UK recruiting like a hawk that is what is being said.

Oscar did give UK permission to go build a roster but I still think  they must think Oscar is a strong enough lean to come back that they've been pretty hesitant reach out to centers. I feel like  had Oscar announced he was  for sure gone  UK would have his replacement by now.

The only real center that got serious looks was Hunter Dickinson.

Unless you're on this UK staff, I doubt that there a lot of facts contained here.

So Oscar is calling the shots at UK now?

It's been said that Oscar gave his blessing to move on if need be and UK was ready to take Hunter Dickinson's commitment. Oscar wanted to go through the whole nba draft process before making a decision ,which he has.
