I think FHS will be fine in whatever direction they go. Just whoever becomes the coach make sure they grow community relationships, and make sure the kids buy-in!!

Frankfort is a very unique place. There has been some success at Frankfort. Ollie Leathers, Raymond Webb, and Craig Foley have been the most successful coaches in Frankfort’s long proud history. Frank

  • Parent involvement is key, but there should be a limit, in my opinion. Everyone doesn't need (or deserve) access to a program and/or coach. Each situation is unique.

Great post, I agree with most everything you said here.

I take issue with 6 and 7 for the same reason I did to similar thoughts earlier in the thread. Alumni and fan support is not unconditional and shouldn’t be. If you just assume people are going to help because it’s their school, and you don’t do anything to seek their help, you’re to blame as much as anybody.

You cannot crap on a community, a fan base or Alumni and then expect them to help. That’s ignorant, at best.

Been around Frankfort for a long time and a big analyzer of local football... You never see anyone doing anything with Frankfort football, it literally is the same it was 30 years ago... no long term goals, or short term plans to work towards a common goal.. It is always on survival mode. Coaches I have seen are  usually just complaining and whining when I watch games and when they talk to other coaches. Heck look at some of the state-journal quotes over the years from coaches.  Every school outside of about 10 in the entire state have hurdles to success. Find a way to overcome, battle them.   This job will be a journeyman job... The ones hiring really need to realize its a long term project, and a big name or one with baggage isn't gonna stay long.

Happenstance, the mortal enemy of many public schools.

Consistency is the issue. As I said before, it hasn't ALWAYS been that way, it just is most of the time. You're spot on with your analysis, though.

Last thing anyone from Franklin County should do is lecture Frankfort people about baggage. What is currently going on at Franklin County right now isn't something many want public.

I can't wait for the naming of the next Coach. Class of 86 in the house today. He will be a good hire.

A fine class!!

What is going on at Franklin that is so bad right now?

The Field house and football field is sad. Along with the practice equipment. I will never underestimate how you have all these great alumni and no is willing to donate to help the football team that was way long overdue. Make matters worse the basketball gym got one the BEST makeovers in the entire state meanwhile the football team got absolutely nothing.

The gym was able to be renovated because they got funds contributed from the state since there is now technically a classroom on the east end of the gym.

There are alumni that help. Many of them help because of relationships established by previous coaches and other alumni that want what is best for kids. There are two groups of alumni at Frankfort. Those that actually want help and those that complain about those helping. Those that complain are a loud minority. Many of those complainers are not even invested in success of kids. That is why I laugh at the administration at the school because they bow down to the ones that don’t give anything but lip service.

For example, grumpy board members listen to those and assisted in running off Coach Foley.

No lies detected here. According to a post on twitter new weight room equipment has been delivered to begin renovations. I believe some of the equipment in the weight room has been in there since the 90's.
