I was unable to attend in person, but watched the telecast.  A win is a win for sure.  Play-calling is very suspect on offense.  Need to find an identity and work on it day after day after day.  Did Charlie Noon play last night?  Why the reluctance to give Hosea the bulk of the carries at running back?  He is only guy that runs north south and rarely loses yardage.  Benke needs to stand tall in pocket and throw the ball, not off back foot and just throwing it up there for receiver to go get.  All of these are critical to the team success.  Still think offensive line could be better by putting best 5 out there and quit all the subbing to merely sub.

Defense looks a little better, but still a lot of holes.  Don’t understand why third and long, two smallish guys inserted into game on the line, thus getting no pressure on the passer.  Again it looks like rotations are made on defense for the sake of making them and not to coach kids up.  Kid can make tackles on three consecutive plays and then watches the next 4 or 5 from the sidelines.  Don’t get it.

Now on to Ryle, another tough opponent for sure, but one the Birds can beat.

Put in the work players and coaches and good things will come. 

Good win for highlands, glad to see them back at 500. Huge game for the birds next week when they travel to union. Offense still looks skeptical at times but I'm positive they will find their groove. Defense played great, a player that stood out to me was number 23 for highlands dude was a stud all night long. Obviously dunn and Robinson doing their thing. I would like to see class get more involved on the offensive side. Other than that go birds! Let’s keep this winning streak going!

A few thoughts I had through the game: 

Highlands had the ball 4th and 1 at the 5. They should have kicked the FG to go up 27-7 in the 3rd quarter. Instead Raceland stopped them, gathered the momentum and went all the way down the field and scored. I was left scratching my head on some of Highlands coaches play calling. 

I also thought Raceland went too much to the passing game in the 4th quarter. If they would have been more balanced with the run I think they could have gotten within a score. But it felt like Highlands Secondary knew passes were coming.

I may have missed this earlier in the week but how did this game come about.  Why would Highlands schedule Raceland?  Seems like an odd pairing. 

How many unsportsmanlike penalties did the Birds have? I know both teams number ones got one on the same play. Coaches need to address this problem.

Pretty sure the McNicholas game last year was a 1-time thing and HHS needed another game and Raceland was the only team they could get on their schedule. I was told it was Raceland or no game. I would be surprised to see the matchup again.

Agree with you 100%. I say that when this team decides to play for one another and the program and not just themselves is when Highlands will be back as a program.
