When will Danville beat Boyle County again?

Featured Replies

With Boyle turning into a state powerhouse and Danville sliding back to mediocrity when do we think Danville can win again 5 years 10 or gulp longer.

Hadn’t Boyle been a state powerhouse for the last 20+ years?

That wasn’t the question, the question was when will Danville win again.

The better question is when will Danville play Boyle again.

He was referring to your opening statement about Boyle turning into a powerhouse. To answer your question, Danville could get a win in the next 4-5 years. Could even be this season assuming Danville doesn’t cancel again. It’s a Rivalry game, a couple good breaks for Danville and a couple bad ones for Boyle and anything can happen.

Yeah I was aware of what he was talking about I was being sarcastic because I understand Boyle has been good for some time but it seems to me they might be crossing over to maybe being able to compete with the Trinity’s and St. X’s which I don’t think they have ever been to that point but I might be wrong.

Some would argue in the midst of the run that got it started that they could hang with Trinity but IMO Boyle has not ever and has not reached that level now. It’s the Louisville Big 3 and then the next 5 or 6 and Boyle is in that group of 5 or 6 for now. They’ve got talent but they also are replacing some key pieces. The timing of the Danville-Boyle game plays in Danville’s favor. If you want to upset Boyle play then early while they are still putting the pieces together. The LCA game last year is a great example.

Why the confidence in Danville it doesn’t appear they have been all that as of late. I mean I know it’s a rivalry game and while anything can happen I would be surprised if it did.

I think Ads would have to get better up front to even think about playing Boyle. Rebels seem to be adding to already talented team and will be a machine. Overall Ads just can’t compete.

2003.... Dunbar beat us (Mason County) in OT. That same season, we lost to Highlands in the snow by one TD.

Trinity beat Dunbar 2 TD's that November and won the state title. Boyle beat a loaded Tilghman team (Joe Casey & Hunter Cantwell) in the semifinals and then the same Highlands team that had beat us the week before, 44-10 in the state championship.

2003 & 2000 Boyle were incredible.  Those two years, I do believe Boyle could play with T, X & Male.

Having said that, my old Boss, Roger Grueneisen, always said things are never as good as they seem but they are never as bad as they seem ever. Boyle is sure on a roll and Danville has been through alot lately.  Still, the gap may not be as big as it appears to be. And, if it is, things can change quick.

This is the best rivalry in the state. Danville just hired a new Superintendent and I hear really good things about him. Hopefully the Ads & Rebels will be playing great football games for a long time to come. Certainly wish both programs the best.

When they score 1 more point than Boyle by the end of the game.

Sorry, someone had to do it.

I heard the new Superintendent is great for Danville. I think Danville will always have the athletes to compete with Boyle County, they just don't have the lineman. I think 2023 Danville will have a shot of Beating Boyle County. Next year I could see a running clock. I hear Danville dont have a QB but will have the athletes. Boyle County is and always will be #builtbychucksmith.

A lot of Belfry fans (maybe myself included) were crowing about Belfry's dominance of Pikeville a few years back.

"Is this even a rivalry?"

"Should they stop playing them to beef up the schedule more?"

Now Pikeville has won three straight with a fourth pretty likely. Pikeville's MS program got cooking, MacNamee got things rolling at the HS, and then with some talent... BOOM.

Clearly Boyle's program is on a different trajectory and level right now... but when you have the pride and tradition Danville has then fortunes can turn in a hurry once momentum gets alongside.

As long as Justin Haddix is there, will never happen.
