  • Will Smith looks like the clown in this to me, and it's not because he slapped him. It's because he laughed and then, after a look of disgust from Jada, apparently got so enraged he had to walk on sta

  • The Oscars was just the culmination of her making him look like a fool for years.

Yep... I just saw the acceptance speech and a video of Rock's reaction as he walked backstage. Definitely not staged.

What did Rock do or say when he walked off stage?

Mic wasn't hot so no idea what he said, but it was more of the big eyed head shake face as he looked at someone he was exiting the stage with. The face said, "holy crap, that didn't go as planned," to me.

Based on how rattled Chris Rock was after the slap, there's no way it was staged.

And I totally agree about Will Smith trying to save face after initially laughing.

Imagine if that had been Hancock slapping Chris Rock, or even Detective Spooner.

Or Jerry The King Lawler.

Saw a great tweet that was something along the lines of "For those that thought this was staged, you have not seen Chris Rock act." ?

That joke would have been one no one would even have remembered if not for Smith doing that.  It was extremely tame.  Smith even laughed at it, and then realized that Jada wasn't about it, and then in my opinion, did what he did to try to save face.

Agreed...I saw lost of memes on Twitter about how Will Smith "really wanted" to be slapping 29 year old recording artist August Alsina instead of Chris Rock. Back in 2020, Alsina claimed that he had an affair with Jada that had actually been sanctioned by Will. Then later that year, Jada talked in her online talk show about having had an "entanglement" with Alsina, and then the show evolved into a discussion between Pinkett and her mom about how they each practice non-monogamous, "open marriages".

Will Smith has never openly confirmed or denied whether or not he had actually sanctioned or approved of the situation between Alsina and Pinkett, but he did discuss the decision he and Pinkett made to stop practicing monogamy in an interview he gave to GQ magazine in September 2021. It definitely made the non-monogamy sound like it was MUCH more Jada's idea than it was Will's. Will has also never openly acknowledged anyone that he has slept with outside of their marriage, unlike Jada.

Frankly speaking, I think Jada is the absolute boss in their household at this point. And I think when Will laughed at Chris Rock's joke, and then looked over at Pinkett and saw how unhappy she was about it...he  decided he needed to go do what he did to make it up to Jada for laughing about it.

Okay, another Bengals one:
