Will Smith and Chris Rock at the Oscars

I believe dignity left that relationship years ago. Pretty well known they have an open relationship (none of my business, nor do I care) and she rules the roost.

Oh he's definitely allowed it to happen, which is even worse IMO.

  • Will Smith looks like the clown in this to me, and it's not because he slapped him. It's because he laughed and then, after a look of disgust from Jada, apparently got so enraged he had to walk on sta

  • The Oscars was just the culmination of her making him look like a fool for years.

No you wouldn't. You would check him afterwards, which would be perfectly understandable and expected. But you're not going to laugh your rear end off and then get fake mad enough to smack somebody.

I brought a middle school basketball game to a halt because a dude told me to check my wife.  If I know Katrina is expecting me to go then I’m gonna go.  ??‍♂️

The difference I see, or what I imagine perhaps, is that you likely wouldn't have laughed in a similar scenario to Will's. If he hadn't laughed first, my entire opinion of his reactions would be different.

My issue isn't that he stood up for his wife. My issue is he only did it after the fact.

I had read that Smith had initially smiled, but when I actually watched it, that made the difference.  He was laughing at the joke and within a couple of seconds he's charging the stage.  It screams faux outrage.

He probably laughed because she said she was going to make alopecia her friend and laugh it off and then remembered that they have beef with Chris Rock.  All Jada has to do is give him the look and he knows his role.  Also, that man has been getting clowned on by folks for well over a year now.  That pent up aggression was gonna come out at some point.  It came out on Chris Rock and his poorly timed joke.

That won’t make him right for doing it and in fact it is a way worse look him taking out all his aggression on one guy for what may well be the very least of the slights against him.

If Will is serious about that stuff, go find the guy who slept with his wife and go after him.

Right or wrong is insignificant for me.  A comedian that has a past history of coming for his wife in front of millions of people came for her again in front of millions of people. She clearly gave him the “you better handle this” look and Will handled it. I’d have done the same for my wife.

Their relationship and what they do with it isn’t anyone’s business.  Why is Jada the only “cheater” when they both have dabbled outside the lines for the duration of their relationship?

Well I didn’t say she cheated, I said the guy who slept with his wife. And I think it’s clear that whatever Will publicly claims about it, it eats at him. Which leads to him overcompensating in his action. Is it anyone’s business? I suppose not, but Jada also put it out there for everyone. So whether it was anyone’s business or not, it is known.

I’m not saying that Will Smith shouldn’t defend his wife, or that I wouldn’t defend my wife. I do think that the way he did it was wrong. And Will knows it too. It was written all over him in the immediate aftermath, and in his speech. And again, frankly, it was tame. No one would have remembered the joke or spared a thought for it. His actions ensured that everyone will remember it now. It was not a smart choice of method.

And yes, that was a good statement from Rock. It was a mature approach. I’m a cynic, I bet Rock doesn’t really believe he did anything wrong. But professionally and maybe even outside of profession, it’s the right choice to apologize.
