I think what people are wanting is what are you basing your opinion on??

It sounds like jdg937 is one of the unpaid coaches.

Most schools arent going to hire someone "right away". Look at the mason and colerain (prominent jobs on the other side of the river) - they are still in the process. I am sure the school is looking over candidates and determining what type of teaching job will be available for the next coach.

so the question is still out there....... is this an attractive job?

This is getting ugly quickly. I say we keep the thread to the news about the coaching prospects. Keep in mind these people work in our community and do not deserve to have their reputations bashed.

As I said, I base my opinion on many things over the past several years. Currently, I am frustrated by the dragging of feet in the coaching selection process. This is supposed to be a big time 4A program, but a quality inside source tells me they still have not contacted the applicants they want to interview. The word around northern Kentucky is that it is a done deal, that the Sheriff is going to get the job. I am just interested in seeing how this plays out. Maybe they won't look inept by the end of the process, but experience tells me they will.

I dont think the thread is ugly. We just have to get the info out and do it in GOOD taste.

So who is the sherriff - an assistant already there????

I have not seen a conner football game in a long time, but i would think this could be a GREAT opportunity. The numbers seem to be there and the area is growing in population as we speak. Maybe a NEW personality with a NEW attitude could take this program to a higher level of compeitition. Boone has had a tradition of success and Ryle had a great year in 06. Surely, with the right leadership Conner could get it done.

Why is this being discussed in a new thread? A thread was started when Coach Stellman resigned.

who cares if its discussed in 2 threads. i didnt see the thread when i created the post.

looking back on it, noone was responding.

I'm sure when a decision is made regarding the hiring of a new coach, someone will make sure it gets posted. Then we'll have a third thread on how bad, or good, a choice it was.

Here are a couple of things for you to consider before you start the "blame game." Most coaches are currently employed by other school systems. The renewal of teaching positions is usually done in the early Spring, in fact, the deadline for notification is April 30th. Most coaches are also teachers so therefore not only are you dealing with who can and will coach, you have to answer whether or not you have a teaching opening in the correct subject matter for that teacher/coach. If the coach is a para-professional, what are the ramifications to that choice? Will the current assistants be kept and if not, do you need to renew them as teachers or replace them and does the new guy's choices for assistants fill the teaching gaps you'll have if and when the current assistants leave? Sorry, but "just hiring a coach" is not quite the simple deal you appear to think it is. And by the way, not everybody in No. Ky. knows it's a done deal. Actually, I have a pretty solid inside source myself that tells me that while the sherriff remains an option, that option is looking less and less attractive.

bulldog,

Why is that option looking less and less attractive?

so WHO is the sheriff?

I think everyone understands all the "processes".

What schools fail to realize is that the head football coach of a high school may be the most prominent figure in the school district - whether they like it or not, it is true. They impact 50-100 student athletes along with their families and the rest of the football community. Regardless of the school, the hiring of a head football coach is just as important as the hiring of a principal. Just my opinion.

Does anyone know who actually applied? Did Yeagle apply, I was told last night he had. My source acted as if Helmig would be the coach and if it did happen there would be many unhappy campers in Cougar land.

I heard Weinrick from Highlands applied....He has been their D-Coordinator for a while.....I would think he would be as qualified as any.:ylsuper:

There will be 5 candidates interviewed on 1/11.

Yeagle is not one of the 5 to be interviewed.

I will not name who the 5 are. Because, if they do not get the job,

I think it could possibly cause tension at their current position.

I think it would be okay to say that 1 of the 5 is from across the river.

The interviews were to of taken place last night, 1/4.

They were pushed back until 1/11.

People who are supposed to be "in the know", are being kept in the dark.
