Per the KHSAA scoreboard

One of the top teams in the 8th handles one of the better 12th Region teams.  

 

Jackets = solid club. Anyone have details? I had to work. 

The Jackson kid that transferred from Frankfort I heard was a beast. My friend also told me that McClear that transferred in from Catholic didn't do much. He said Danville played with Woodford the first half then the size bothered Danville. He also said once Woodford gets all the football players playing they are going to be a tough out for anybody they play. Half of Woodford County players are all transfers. He said Danville has a high ceiling but they got to have another scorer to play with Dontae Hayden. Hayden struggled shooting the ball and it hurt Danville's scoring. Bryant has to be a scorer this year for them to be a solid team and to compete in the 45th district. Also, He said his favorite player on either team was Jalen Dunn. Said he plays bigger than his size. Danville must have a freshman that caught his eye but didn't know his name. About 6'4 and athletic. Needs to get bigger but has some serious potential. 

Must be talking about Jackson. He has high potential.

Danville has some freshman with potential, just have to match that potential with work. Tre Paige (6'2, G), Demauriah Brown (5'10, G), Ontario Hill (6'5, F), Cam Jackson (6'2, G/F) are all freshman and got significant playing time last night. Paige was a starter, but all of these kids will probably get their shot at starting at some point during the season.

Dunn averaged over 8 RPG last year and his motor is great. Can do just about anything needed on the court.

Danville will be drastically undersized this year IMO, and will need to play great defense, box out/rebound as a team, and get out in transition to be successful. Playing scrappy allowed Danville to stay in the game for about 3 quarters.

Woodford is an extremely solid squad and will get even better throughout the year as their players start to jell and they get all of their football guys transitioned back over. Jackson and McClear will cause some problems down low as they are extremely long and athletic. Jackson moved really well for a big, took it coast to coast once for an easy lay over the undersized Danville D.

All in all, I think it was a solid opening night for both teams. Good luck to Woodford the rest of the season!

Good to see another Ads fan on this board!

Has Dunn for Danville improved his outside shot any?  If so, he will be a tough player.  He does about everything else well.

I just saw on twitter that Woodford County has forfeited this game.   Anyone know why?

I'm hearing it was the usage of two ineligible players, assuming a couple of their transfers haven't been cleared and suited up.

How does this happen?? It’s not a difficult thing. The school receives a letter when players become eligible. 

Hearing the AD at Woodford County told Woodford County HC Jaron Brown that the kids were ruled eligible and could play. So you can't blame him. This mistake is clearly on the AD.

Ouch. I don’t think this is the first time this has happened at WoFoCo.

AD was trying to find a way to play at Kroger field...stuff happens.
