This 70 and two point conversion thing is a bunch of adults in their feelings. The players don’t care if it’s 68 or 72.

Actually, I don’t particularly care what the score to the game was. If a team I’m coaching has a need, I’m looking to fill the need. If I don’t have a kicker, I might need a kicker someday. So, why not investigate that possibility in a game Ive got locked down? I suppose it’d be better to be down 2 with time running out, be in field goal range, and realize, “darn, I don’t know if any of these kids can kick.”

They have a kicker.  He was just too tired to kick that late in the game from all of the prior PAT’s.

My question is this, after scoring these late touchdowns, who handled the kickoff duties?  Since JV only goes for 2, do they not have someone that kicks off?

This seems like a homer making up excuses to me. There’s plenty of things you can do to keep from running up the clock like let the play clock run all the way down in between plays,  just run the ball, don’t go for two after every touchdown I have a feeling if it hadn’t been NCC they probably wouldn’t have done it. But what goes around generally comes around at some point and time so if you opt to hang 70 on someone just keep in mind coaches don’t forget.

on a positive note, how about this Zander Riegler kid for BW. Kid runs downhill, and hard. Name to follow in years to come. He is dominating these running clock games against mostly 1st team defenders.

No irony at all.  I commented about onside kick when up by 50.  That was a Dale move.  And you don’t think teams enjoyed teeing off on Highlands these last few years?  Well guess what, the “comes around time” is coming.

Nobody still willing to answer the JV kicking situation?  Rather take shots at people calling this move what it is, bush league.

They have a freshman lineman that comes up to kickoff during JV games. He doesn’t dress on Friday nights to kick. They go for two after TDs as well. 
 

The starting kicker handled kickoffs all game long against NCC. 
 

As far as the PATs go, the starting team came out twice during JV action in the third quarter to do PATs, after they had been standing on the sideline for a bit. They had two bad snaps on consecutive tries that led to the holder, a starting WR, rolling around and throwing it into the end zone on one try and the other getting stopped short and hit pretty hard. 
 

I’m going to venture to say that Coach Rash wisely decided to not send his starters back out there after the second bad snap so that no one got injured in sloppy weather conditions on pointless PATs. 
 

Again, let’s move on.

How about the other 15 times between 1998-2013 that Dale scored 70+ points in a game!!! Including over 80 twice, but please Highlands guy, condemn Beechwood for the one time they crack the 70 mark. Next time they can take a knee on their PATs so that they don’t offend you.

I am amazed about adults on here squabbling over a number. 68, 69........no discussion. 70 and my goodness. The world is coming to an end. It was ok for NCC to hang a 69 but one more point and it is a travesty. Please stop the nonsense and move on. Find a way to be a Beechwood rather than suggest otherwise. I have seen many high school games in the 14 years I have lived in the area and Beechwood has always carried themselves with class and dignity and shame on them for also being successful along the way. It seems like some folks on BGP are always looking for a reason to bash Beechwood about something. Out of district players, reclassification, going for 2, 70 points and on and on. All of this however within the rules and guidelines set forth. Get over it, people. BW has a successful and sustainable program that should be a model, not a target of immature abuse.

I am not bashing Beechwood for scoring 70, just commenting on your post. In my opinion, every single team should try to score as many points a game as humanly possible. As an HHS guy who played for Coach Mueller and thinks the world of him as a coach and a man, I will tell you that the attitude that Dale had regarding the score of a game had nothing to do with making other teams feel bad. Coach Mueller truly believed that his job was to do everything in his power to make every single player in his program the best player and man they could be and that meant always performing to the highest level you possibly could. I believe that Coach Rash is cut from the same cloth in this way. Therefore, it is not in the blood of coaches like this to let their foot off the peddle during a game. If it is 7-7 in a rivalry game in the 4th quarter or 100-0 in the 1st quarter of a "who cares" game, it doesn't matter. You coach the kids on YOUR team to be the best and perform the best that they possibly can.

Have you read the posts in this thread? I assume not or you would not post this. Unless you either just want to make trouble or you are bitter about Beechwood beating CCH.

But, I will say this again for clarity. Beechwood does not have a back up place kicker. They don't kick extra points in JV games either. If the problem in the score is going for 2 versus kicking extra points, easy explanation. No ill intent. No running up the score on purpose. Coach Rash has a very long, proven record of purposely not running the score up on teams.
